Count The Kicks - a registered UK charity - was founded by Sophia Wyatt in 2010 following the stillbirth of her daughter.

Determined to ensure more mums did not experience this tragedy, Count The Kicks was set up to educate mums on the importance of a baby’s movements and to help them work with healthcare professionals to bring home a healthy baby.

Here they have revealed the 9 symptoms that pregnant women should never ignore.

CALL YOUR MIDWIFE...

  • If you notice a change in your baby’s normal movement pattern (this can be an increase or a decrease)

  • If you have any itching or a rash

  • If you have a temperature or fever

  • If you have any pain including headaches

  • If your vision becomes blurred or you see colours or patches

  • If your hands or feet become swollen or painful

  • If you have any fluid loss or bleeding

  • If you have pain passing urine

  • If you have a “bad feeling” or feel uneasy in any way

If you are ever unsure about your pregnancy, then please do call your midwife or doctor; you are not wasting their time.

Alesha Dixon, who works alongside Count The Kicks, has also worked hard to stress the importance of trusting your instincts.

She said: "I’m a mum myself so can really empathise with what women who go through the tragedy of stillbirth must feel.

"Only around 10% of stillbirths are caused by a fatal congenital abnormality, meaning there is a potential to save up to 90% of stillborn babies.

"I’m a firm believer that mums should always trust their instincts - if you notice a change in your baby’s movements, seek advice quickly from a healthcare professional."
