In an EXCLUSIVE interview, Stacey Solomon opened up to Closer Online about her future with Joe Swash and crippling mum guilt

Over the past couple of years, Stacey Solomon has become one of our absolute fave celebs. Warm, funny and open, she's one of those celebrities we'd love to be friends with in real life, so we were VERY excited when we got the opportunity to sit down and have a chat with her over a couple of cheese triangles (well, she had just been announced as the face of The Laughing Cow's Snaccident campaign!).

With the new series of I'm A Celeb about to kick off, we wondered if Stacey was feeling sad not to be hosting the spin-off show I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!: Extra Camp this year?

"I had so much fun last year," she gushed, "but it'll be nice to watch this series from the comfort of my own home!"

But while Stacey will be curled up on the sofa, Joe Swash - her boyfriend of two years - will be out in Australia presenting I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here, NOW!, which he's been doing since winning the show in 2008.

First day back at school

Even celebs get all mushy when they see their little'uns going off to school.

"I'll miss him loads," Stacey admitted, before adding how proud she'll be to watch him do what he does best.

Since getting together in 2015, Stacey and Joe have become one of our fave celebrity couples. But despite the social media PDAs and even rumours of a proposal, Joe still hasn't popped the question.

So what's going on?

"We will DEFINITELY get married one day!" Stacey confirmed.

YAY! It's the news we've been waiting for! Although apparently we shouldn't buy a hat quite yet...

"It's just the practicality," Stacey explained. "We want it to be really perfect and we want the kids to be happy and to be a part of it, so we're just not going to rush into it.

"It's not worth it, we just want to take our time and do it in 'normal person' time."

Very sensible, Stace!

But despite the fact she doesn't even have a ring yet - let alone a date! - Stacey admitted that she has thought about what her wedding to Joe will look like...

"My mind changes all the time because the thing is, even if I didn't have a partner, I would still think about my wedding. That's just the kind of person I am!

"I've been from a big meringue dress, big wedding, everyone there to a registry office with just us two and the kids – it changes all the time. I don't know what I want!"

And what about Joe? Has he had any thoughts on the big day: "Oh come!" Stacey chuckled, "the only thoughts he has on it are the ones I put in his brain!"

On the subject of her future with Joe, Stacey recently surprised fans when she claimed she'd feel guilty about having a child with him, and took the opportunity to clarify what she meant.

"It's about the dynamics of having another child when you've got two children whose fathers don't live in the marital home," she explained.

"That's why we haven't got married and haven't had children yet, because it's a complex issue.

"We haven't just met each other child-free, we'll be blending our own families, and we need to make sure that our families, once blended as a whole, are completely settled and happy before we move forward and do anything else."

Despite the fact that she clearly always puts her two boys - Zachary, eight, and Leighton, five - first, Stacey admitted that her "mummy guilt" often gets the better of her.

"Even if I had a 2.4 family and everything was perfect, I'd still feel guilty about everything I do because that seems to be, for me personally, something that comes hand-in-hand with being a parent.

"You're constantly questioning your decisions and wondering if you're doing what's right and best for your kids. Sometimes you have got to stop worrying so much and make sure that you're enjoying your life, because your kids will benefit from that as well.

"As long as you unconditionally love your child and do everything with the best intentions, if it doesn't work – it doesn't work. They're pretty robust and they will get through it. If you're a good human being, the likelihood is that they're going to turn into decent members of society."

Talking of guilt - snacking is another area many of us often beat ourselves up about. And again, this is something Stacey can relate to

"Quite often we'll find ourselves grazing and we don't think about what we take in and what we snack on, and then we feel really guilty about it.

"I always try to make sure that me and the boys have a healthy diet, but if I'm taking out a snack for them and I've got carrots and cucumber, it's much more exciting for them if they can just dip it in a little bit of cheese!"

From blending families to snacking - Stacey Solomon's got it all sorted.
