Stacey Solomon got into a heated argument with former WAG Lizzie Cundy over digitally airbrushing photos of people.

Stacey, who we know is a fierce campaigner for being real and true to yourself, has been working with children's charities such as Childline and the NSPCC to promote body positivity in younger people.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain earlier today, Stacey was brought in to debate with TV presenter and former WAG Lizzie Cundy over whether France's new ruling on photoshopped images is a step in the right direction for the world.

The new ruling to be put in place means that publications in France will bear a label to say that images have been digitally airbrushed, making it obvious that the people in the photos do not REALLY look like that.

Sounds pretty harmless to us!

But Stacey, who recently posted a before-and-after photo of herself having her make-up done for Loose Women which she was heavily praised for, showed a different side of herself on the show.

She admitted that she felt very passionately about the subject of body image, and became quite fired up during the heated debate which saw her cut off her opponent many times.

WOO – you go girl!

She said: "Seeing how many children and calling up about body image issues is just horrendous. I think that France are taking a step in the right direction.

"If you're going to use airbrushing, at least be honest about it so that when younger people are looking at these images, they don't think that they are the exact image of that person."

Lizzie Cundy disagreed, however, saying: "I'm sorry, we all want to look our best – even here today you've got the best lighting, the best angle. It's just people wanting to look their best."

But Stacey couldn't just sit there and take Lizzie's comments, cutting her off as she said: "But don't you think that people should be told?" to which Lizzie said that it was the same as wearing Spanx or a padded bra.

Hmm.

Susanna raised the excellent point that wearing body-shaping underwear and putting on make-up was something that most people could do if they wanted to – but that "using digital effects to lengthen your legs or to change your features, that's a completely different thing, and shouldn't we be honest at least about that?"

Whilst Lizzie tried to defend her point again, saying that nice-looking photos sell well, Stacey cut her off once again and fired back: "So do body positive campaigns! Loose Women recently did body stories and it was one of the biggest things they've ever done – it was incredible, it empowered people.

"People do want to see people embracing and being honest about their bodies."

Throughout the interview, Stacey stood her ground and passionately made her points – and we saw a more serious and political side to the mum-of-two than the fun-loving and slightly ditsy person we normally see on the TV.

Susanna then added that she always likes to remind people when she does a photoshoot that it's not really her, saying: "I always tell people, ' You will not look like the girl in the magazine because the girl in the magazine doesn't look like the girl in the magazine'."

Wise words, Susie.

Stacey said: "Social media is supposed to be something that is honest and is a part of you. Young people need to know that it's also an advertising platform and a business, and where that is happening there is airbrushing and filters – and things aren't real," later adding: "It puts too much pressure on young people."

We LOVE how confident Stacey was on the show today – we'd like to see more of it, please!
