We all knew it was coming, but still no-one could have been prepared for just how emotional Coronation Street was last night.
Viewers have known for a couple of weeks now that Michelle and Steve MacDonald would suffer a heart-breaking miscarriage.
But the storyline is made even more emotional by the fact that both Kym Marsh, who plays Michelle, and Simon Gregson, who plays Steve, have been through the exact same thing in real life.
We previously told you about Kym Marsh's reaction to the storyline after losing her son Archie in 2009 at 21 weeks. But Simon Gregson has revealed that he and his wife have suffered a devastating 11 miscarriages.
Sadly, this news only came to light because Simon's wife, Emma, had been a victim of online trolling. Simon hit back at the trolls with a hard-hitting tweet.
Speaking to The Mirror about his reaction, the Corrie stalwart said: "I just thought it was uncalled for. She needed to be told before she upset anyone else. It is something myself and Emma have been through.
"Me and Emma have lost children. First one at 21 weeks and 4 days. As a bloke being there and witness to all this, you feel completely helpless. What's he supposed to do but support?"
Simon and Emma, who married in 2010, are parents to Alfie, nine, Harry, seven and one-year-old Teddy. But Emma revealed to OK! that Teddy was a twin: "Sadly only one of the twins survived. We’re very lucky to have this one."
We think Simon and Kym are incredibly brave for taking this storyline on, and we were in floods of tears when it aired last night.
