Scarlett Moffatt has only just left the I'm A Celeb jungle but she's already putting her newfound fame to a good cause by raising awareness of bullying.

The 26-year-old queen of the jungle has candidly talked about her own experience of being bullied as a school girl.

The Gogglebox star has revealed that she would be allowed to leave school early to avoid being attacked – but kept her daily hell secret from her parents, Betty and Mark.

And while her ordeal at the hands of others sounds like it was difficult to endure, she offers hope to others that might be experiencing something similar.

"From aged 12 I just didn't like life. I didn't have the best time, really. But if I hadn't had those experiences at school, then I probably wouldn't be here. If I had just tried to fit in, I wouldn't be the weirdo that I am now," she defiantly told The Sun.

Scarlett explained that when the school she attended in her home town of Bishops Auckland, Co Durham, tried to help by allowing her to leave school ten minutes early at the end of the day to avoid being beaten up by bullies, she would find herself too "embarrassed" to go straight home.

Instead, she would waste time walking around a supermarket carpark so that she didn't rouse suspicion by arriving home early, as she didn't want to alert her parents to her problems.

The star even went as far as lying to her parents, telling them stories she had overheard other school children say and presenting the tales to her parents as though the events had happened to her – just so they wouldn't think anything was wrong.

Scarlett also became a target for bullies after she was involved in an accident with a car that saw her teeth knocked out and suffering from Bell's Palsy as a consequence which caused one side of her face to drop.

"There was just loads of things. One of the kids also saw me metal detecting with my dad, so you can imagine how that went down," she recalled.

But Scarlett says she does not let her past get her down now.

"I mean, it's funny now. Jesus, it wasn't funny when I was going into school. It's worked out well now, it's built character," she said.

After winning I'm A Celebrity earlier this week, Scarlett looks set to see her own star shine brighter than ever before.

Already a household name for many thanks to her appearance on hit Channel 4 reality show, Gogglebox, it is believed she is now being offered as much as £1 million by TV stations desperate to sign her up as the next big thing.

And perhaps getting a taste of the good life, Scar has been sipping champagne with her jungle camp mates as they all jet back to the UK on first class flights.

Sharing a snap on Instagram, Scarlett's co-star Adam Thomas wrote: "Coming home with the queen and my boy @tvmartinroberts!! Haha love these guys !!"

We think Scarlett will have plenty of new fans to meet when she lands back in the UK and into her new life.
