No sooner has Scarlett Moffatt won I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here then Piers Morgan targets her for some cheap laughs.

Welcome to being a celebrity Scar!

On Sunday night, viewers watched Gogglebox star Scarlett be crowned Queen of the Jungle after winning over the public with her hilarious observations and warm personality.

But less than eight hours later, Piers was on Good Morning Britain in a huff that someone he didn’t consider a celebrity had won the show.

‘Let me get this straight. Somebody who I’ve never heard of, who none of us have ever heard of, who gets onto a show with other people we’ve never heard of talking about television has now won I’m A Celebrity, thereby becoming a celebrity. Is that it?’ the irate 51-year-old asked his Good Morning Britain co-stars Susanna Reid, 45, and Charlotte Hawkins, 41.

Explaining who she is, Susanna said: ‘She became a celebrity by watching television on television,’ highlighting that Scar was a star character on Channel 4’s Gogglebox – adding she thinks the reality star is ‘terrific’.

Unimpressed, Piers continued: ‘Well I don’t know anything about this Scarlett Moffatt character.’

However it quickly became apparent that Piers had a personal issue with Scarlett as he revealed he had learned details of her audition to appear on the Channel 4 TV-watching show.

‘On her audition to join Gogglebox they showed lots of pictures of famous people; they showed her one of David Cameron and she said: "Is that Piers Morgan?" Now what part of this face says "oily, unemployed, creep?" I’m not unemployed, am I?’ he scathed.

Turning almost philosophical, Piers then tried to imply Scarlett’s jungle victory could herald the end of the world.

"It’s a great story. Although I’m not quite sure what it all means for the future of the world when people who are famous for watching telly end up winning the biggest shows on television. What does it mean?" he asked.

Scarlett’s rise to fame has been longer than many I’m A Celeb viewers might be aware (we’re talking to you, Piers) having first appeared on our screens in 2013.

She was one of the stars of short-lived MTV reality show Beauty School Cop Outs where she trained at a Manchester salon and put her love life on show for the cameras.

She then moved to Gogglebox in 2014 where she became a favourite with viewers for her quick wit, and funny comment alongside her parents Betty and Mark.

Now some viewers have accused I’m A Celebrity of being engineered to crown Scarlett the winner – as some fans feel she was given an unfair amount of air time.

Others even went as far as suggesting the other campmates knew she would win, after co-star Adam Thomas made a confession in the Bush Telegraph.

"A three course meal sat in the jungle with pretty much two of my best mates," he said, adding: "One of them is going to be king or queen. It was just an amazing way to end an adventure."

Some viewers lept on this statement as concrete proof that the show was fixed, taking to Twitter to declare: "Adam just said 'one of them is gonna be king or queen' how did he know that the night before #ImACeleb #fix."

But maybe – just maybe – those viewers are over analysing everything.
