Peter Andre and his wife, Emily MacDonagh, are one of our favourite celebrity couples. Not only do the seem to have a beautifully strong relationship, but they’re always honest about the parenting struggles they have experienced raising their two babies, three year old Amelia and five month old Theodore.
So when Emily opened up about the guilt she felt over her son, fans flocked to praise them for being open and honest.
Talking to OK! magazine, Emily admitted that she felt incredibly guilty for not realising that little baby Theo needed tongue-tie surgery despite being a doctor herself.
She spoke about the ‘traumatic’ procedure, and confessed that she felt extremely guilty when they discovered Theo had ankyloglossia.
The condition affects 4-11% of newborns but is often missed during check-ups.
“I didn’t pick up on it and I’m a doctor. I felt guilty, I should have looked in his mouth and thought about tongue-tie,” she said.
“When they’re yours you don’t look at them as a patient. Pete and I were both crying when Theo had his operation. It was really traumatic.”
The 27 year-old doctor also spoke about the difficulties she faces being in a relationship with Peter who is sixteen years her senior. However, the problems stem from other people.
“I find it hard when people say I’m too young to be with him – my skin is not thick enough and I find it very upsetting. I don’t have social media because otherwise you’re opening yourself up to that criticism,” she admitted.
Well we think Peter and Emily make an amazing couple!
