She was kicked off the UK’s newly revamped Married At First Sight last year and her marriage on the show lasted just six weeks, but the experience hasn’t put Nikita Jasmine off her quest to find love. MAFS, which sees matched singletons meet for the first time on their wedding day, paired Nikita with husband Ant Poole, but the pair clashed on their honeymoon and she was controversially asked to leave the show by producers after just six weeks because of her fiery temperament. But the star is now back on our screens on E4’s Celebs Go Dating, enlisting the help of experts to find love, and she says she is looking forward to viewers seeing her softer side.
“I was asked to leave MAFS but I’ve got no regrets because it’s got me to where I am today – although I made a couple of mistakes, I learned a lot about myself on that journey,” she tells Closer.
“I was the villain of the show but that’s fine, you can’t fit every side of your personality into a one-hour show. On Celebs Go Dating, I knew people would get to see the softer side to me and what I’ve been through in the past. I’m getting a lot of love off the back of the show and that does give you a good feeling.”
It’s in stark contrast to the reaction she received after MAFS, and Nikita says she was worried by death threats she received following the show. “My name was trending worldwide on Twitter and it was just hate upon hate. People were calling me ‘scum of the earth’ while I was doing my food shop,” she explains. “You just have to be thick skinned and get over it. If someone sends a nasty message, I block it. I don’t reply to bullies or lose sleep over trolls.”
On MAFS, Nikita – whose marriage to Ant wasn’t legal as the show is considered a social experiment – was famed for having a strict “must have” checklist when it came to what she was looking for in a man, including green eyes and veneers. But she reveals that the Celebs Go Dating experience has made her more open-minded about finding a man.

“I’ve got a very strict type and I’ve always stuck to that. I love lads who are over 6ft tall, I’m a sucker for green eyes, I like dark hair and tanned skin and a big, muscly build. Anna [Williamson] and Paul [C Brunson, the love experts on the show] wanted me to broaden my horizons and start dating people who I wouldn’t usually look at in a million years. I’m not as strict with my checklist as I used to be – not quite as fussy!” Nikita says. “I’m 27 now and I’d like to be married in my 30s. I’m not in a mad rush to get married now though – I’d have kids first if I met the right guy.”
Her dismissal from MAFS hasn’t been the only controversial thing Nikita has had to deal with. Her openness about surgery has drawn a lot of criticism from the public, who have labelled her a “bad role model”. In 2018, Nikita had her first procedure in Turkey – a breast enlargement, taking her from a 34DD to a 34G. She also had a Brazilian Bum Lift (BBL). The following year, she had a second BBL and a nose job, followed by a breast uplift and reduction – going back down to a 34DD – in 2020. She also has regular Botox and fillers.
Nikita says, “Just because I get plastic surgery, doesn’t make me a bad person – it gave me confidence. It’s my body and I can do what I want. Yes, I’ve had some tweaks here and there, but I love my body. I’ve done this for me. I would never encourage anyone to have surgery. I would do your research into surgeons and after care. It’s a personal choice. Me having it shouldn’t influence others to.
“I’m happy now but there’s always room for improvement. I’ve been looking into bum filler because my bum’s slightly out of proportion. But surgeons have said that if I get bum filler then I can never get a BBL again. I was also thinking of getting my nose redone because I’ve got a couple of bumps either side that I want smoothed out. Work is really busy but, if I’ve got the time and I still want it done, I’ll be on that plane to Turkey!”

‘I told Abz how I felt – we’ve not kissed yet’
While they both date separate people on Celebs Go Dating, Nikita reveals she has her eye on fellow celeb Abz (Love, from ’90s group Five). She says, “I’ve been open about the fact that I really liked Abz. I liked him from the very start but I was there to date other guys on Celebs Go Dating. Right from day one when I met him, we had a lot of chats on and off-camera, so naturally we grew close.
“He’s a bit shorter than what I’d usually go for but he’s got the tan, tats and he’s a good crack. He’s a bit older than me at 42 and he’s a fascinating person. He’s had a tough time and he’s come out the other side stronger.
“I was massively drawn to him but I didn’t want to put pressure on it. Even though my feelings were genuine, I didn’t know where his head was at. On the press launch day, I told him how I felt and I think he was a bit taken aback. I know he adores us but we’ve not kissed or done anything sexual.”
