They only appear to have been friends for a short amount of time, but already Nicola Peltz-Beckham and Selena Gomez – who refer to each other as “My Queen” and have matching “soul-sister” tattoos – have become inseparable.
And last week, Nicola addressed the rumours that she and husband Brooklyn Beckham, who will celebrate their first anniversary next month, are a “throuple”.
The actress and model told Cosmopolitan magazine, “O my God. We’re like, yeah, we are a throuple. We are all three best friends.” During an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Brooklyn added, “I love when my wife makes new friends, especially really great friends. You know, we all get along... [Selena] says we’re a throuple.”
But now an insider reveals that, despite Brooklyn regularly being photographed with Selena, he can’t help but feel that his wife’s friendship has forced a wedge between them.
A source says, “He’s feeling left out and worried about where it’s all headed. He sometimes finds it hard that Nicola shares so much with Selena that he’s in the dark about, and they’re often whispering and going off for girls’ time. It felt like him and Nicola against the world for such a long time, but now he feels like Selena’s influence, and the way Nicola idolises her, has changed all that.”
Nicola, 27, revealed how she and Selena, 30, had met years ago, but reconnected at an event in September before holidaying in Mexico with Brooklyn, 24, over the New Year. Posting an Instagram picture of the three laying on a yacht during their trip, Selena wrote, “Fine call us a throuple #foreverplusone”.
Now the insider says Brooklyn “just feels like he’s tagging along” and has turned to his parents for their guidance and support.
They add, “Victoria and David have been telling him to try not to make a big deal about it and that it’s just a phase. Although Nicola is older than him, she can be immature and is probably just getting things out of her system.”
And being caught in the middle of the rumoured feuding between Nicola and Victoria, 48, following their reported fall- out ahead of the wedding last April, the source says Nicola’s close friendship with Selena has brought Brooklyn closer to his mum.
The insider adds, “Vic has always been the one he goes to for advice. They’ve had a lot more contact in recent months so, if anything, him feeling left out of the throuple has probably helped strengthen the bond with his mum. He’s realised how much he misses her.”
