The X Factor judge confirmed she was in a four-year relationship before she met her husband.

Speaking to The Guardian, she said: "I did have a four-year relationship with a woman.

“But I’ve been very happily married for seven years to a p****. Ha ha! An amazing guy."

Last month, the former Spice Girl spoke about her sexuality on The Alan Carr show.

In response to a question about straight women becoming lesbians, Mel said: "Yeah, I was one of those for a few years."

"I would not call it that. I was just one of those ladies. Now I’m happily married,” she said when asked about if she was a lesbian.

In 2010 Mel admitted to US radio host, Howard Stern: "People call me lesbian, bisexual or heterosexual, but I know who's in my bed and that's it… I have a huge libido and a great sex life."

Mel married Stephen Belafonte in 2007, but prior to that had a brief relationship with Eddie Murphy and was married to Jimmy Gulzar for two years from 1998.
