From the moment you conceive to the day you give birth to your little one, your body goes through so many huge changes, but many new mums feel under pressure to snap back to their pre-baby bodies as soon as possible.
However, when celebrities like Imogen Thomas and Rebecca Adlington come forward to talk about the importance of loving your post-partum body, it is so refreshing. Sometimes it’s the reality check we need to remember that it’s up to us if and when we want to make changes.
New mum Maria Fowler is the latest celebrity talking about the issue, and encouraging mothers to love their bodies.
The former The Only Way Is Essex star, 30, gave birth to baby Evie in September with long-term partner, Kelvin Batey.
Having managed to slowly loose the baby weight over three months through a combination of healthy eating and exercise, she has stressed that the most important thing is that YOU feel good.
“I loved my mummy tummy,” she admitted.
“I wouldn’t have had gorgeous Evie without it!
“I am very proud of the pictures of me with a bloated stomach when I first embarked on the exercise regime a month after Evie’s birth because they bring back happy memories of the pregnancy.”
What a wonderfully positive message, Maria!
She also admitted to going on ‘mummy power walks’ – 5 mile brisk walks around the park with Evie in the pram so that she could get her body moving and spend quality time with her newborn simultaneously.
As long as you and your baby are healthy, it’s up to you if and when you decide to start working out.
It’s so easy to start obsessing over the changes your body has made post-pregnancy, but it’s important to remember that it has done something really amazing.
