TOWIE star Lucy Mecklenburgh and former Corrie star Ryan Thomas are engaged and we can't wait for them to get married. The pair's relationship has really gone from strength to strength in the last few years, with the couple seemingly going stronger than ever.
During an episode of Mancs on the Mic, a podcast Ryan hosts with his two brothers, Lucy reveals their relationship didn't get off to the strongest start following an awkward encounter in a lift.
While they had met years earlier a spark first developed between the two when they both appeared on Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls. As Lucy revealed on the podcast, however, the connection definitely wasn't instant.
She confessed that she was reluctant to join the show initially as she knew Ryan would also be there. She said, "I knew that he liked me so I didn't want to do a show that was going to become what it was."
She then went on to describe their "embarrassing" encounter in depth. She said, "We had three days of training before we went in and we had a night in Panama which was really fun. We all went dancing on a rooftop and everyone went home and me and me and Ryan were the last to leave.
"And we were in the lift of the hotel and Ryan leant in to kiss me and I was like 'what?' And I leaned my head to the side and he face planted the lift mirror.
"I was just like 'what are you doing? We're working together, we cannot do this. If something goes wrong we'll have to spend a month on a deserted island together."
Luckily Ryan and Lucy were able to move past the awkwardness of this initial encounter and have been dating for the past four years, welcoming their first child together in 2019 and getting engaged the following year. Lucy is currently pregnant with their second child and their wedding must surely be just around the corner.
This follows the recent news that Ryan's ex Tina O'Brien had been accused of smashing his car.
Ryan and Tina, who met on the soap, dated for six years until 2009 and are parents to Scarlett, 13, with the actor regularly travelling from Essex to Manchester to spend time with his daughter.
According to our source, a wing mirror of Ryan’s Range Rover was smashed off and the paintwork scratched during a bust-up at the weekend, with Tina accused of causing the damage.
A source said, “Ryan and Tina have a fractious relationship. They are not on good terms and that tension boiled over.
“Tina, who was at a pal’s house party, came out into the street to meet him as he drove up. Soon after that his car was damaged with the baseball bat.
“It was quite a disturbing incident and Ryan drove away as soon as he could. They’ve not spoken since and Ryan is furious.”
On Monday 7 March, Ryan broke his social media silence to celebrate his little boy Roman's second birthday with a flurry of family snaps celebrating his big day.
In November 2021, Ryan and his fiancé Lucy Mecklenburgh announced they were expecting their second child, a baby girl.
