Lisa Snowdon is a former model turned TV presenter who counts Hollywood royalty among her famous exes, but these days, she's happily settled with her partner of eight years, George Smart.

While the couple have been engaged for almost seven years, they have never officially tied the knot – but Lisa says all that could change at the drop of a hat.

Speaking to Closer, the former model reveals, “It’s not that we don’t want to, we just haven’t got the energy to do it. I’ve got the ring, we’ve got the commitment. I don’t think it would change anything, except I could call him my husband rather than my fiancé.

“But if we’re in a country and we’re like, ‘The church is free and we can get married tomorrow’, we might go for it!”

After being spotted while dancing at a rave at London’s MFI club in 1991, Lisa has modelled on the cover of Vogue, has been the face of Gucci and starred in campaigns for the likes of Mercedes-Benz. And with that fame came a string of famous boyfriends – including A-lister George Clooney.

The pair dated for five years after they met on the set of an advert in 2000, and Lisa recently revealed, “George was charming, a really nice man, good fun and we had a great time. It was quite wild. Sometimes I think it will be written on my tombstone – ‘George Clooney once dated Lisa Snowdon’.”

But after getting together with her current George in 2015 – although the pair first met 20 years ago – Lisa says the ultimate reason their relationship works so well is because they have “so much respect for each other”.

“We’re part of a team,” she continues. “I’ve never felt like that before, where you’ve got each other’s backs. He’s my best friend – we communicate, we laugh together, we’re considerate of each other. It’s a really loving, supportive relationship. It’s just pure love and pure respect.”

Now 51, Lisa - who is Debenhams' first fashion and beauty editor and has just launched her new Wallis at Debenhams Winter Editlast week - also credits George with helping her through her perimenopausal years. The Lorraine show regular has been very vocal about her experience, even releasing her book Just Getting Started earlier this year. Part of that has been evaluating her relationship with exercise and nutrition, which Lisa says “gives her more energy”.

She continues, “I want to learn more about how we can heal ourselves and what we can eat to feel better. There’s a lot to be said for listening to what the body’s telling us, and if you’re getting uncomfortable feelings, then you need to have a little look at what you’re eating. I love weight training, helping to increase my bone density and keep my core strong. It gives me more energy!”

She adds, “I feel really focused and excited about the future. And I feel I’ve got a sense of acceptance with things that I was perhaps pining for. Your 50s are definitely better than your 20s! I definitely feel much stronger, and more able to set boundaries, so people can’t take advantage. When you’re younger you pick holes in yourself and compare yourself too much – but when you get to my age it’s a waste of energy!”
