She’s now happily loved-up with boyfriend James Green after her toxic split from Ant McPartlin five years ago.
And insiders say that Lisa Armstrong will walk down the aisle for a second time and is planning an extravagant occasion – but it may prove awkward for her ex-husband Ant, who she was married to for 11 years.
A source tells Closer, “Lisa and James have been going from strength to strength for a while now – they already feel like they’re married. They’ve both decided that it would be a shame not to go through with it as they’ve had such lovely support from their friends and family. With her head of make-up duties on Strictly over, Lisa is finally getting round to drawing up a guest list for it, and it’s already looking incredibly star-studded.”
Lisa, 46, had been with presenter Ant, 47, for more than 20 years before she filed for divorce in 2018. The split came a year after Ant entered rehab, following a battle with painkiller addiction as a result of a knee operation.
Then before the pandemic struck in 2020, Lisa – who counts Denise van Outen, Alan Carr and Stephen Mulhern among her showbiz friends – met and moved on with electrician James after they reportedly exchanged numbers in a bar.
And our insider adds that with wedding bells on the horizon, Lisa’s well-established friends can guarantee a spot on the invitation list – including her and Ant’s mutual pals.
“Lisa has genuine friendships within the entertainment industry, so it’s inevitable that her wedding would have a lot of celebrities there,” the source says.
“None of it feels fake because Lisa has a really down- to-earth personality, which is why celebs flock to her. There was a time when she thought it might be awkward to ask some of Ant’s mates to come, but at the end of the day, they are her mates too.”
In 2018, Ant began dating his former PA Anne-Marie Corbett – who devastated Lisa described as “my friend and our PA” in a tweet – and they went on to marry in 2021.
And with the news that his ex could be remarrying, an insider says that Ant is likely to be on edge with all the A-listers expected to attend, including those who were said to be remaining neutral during their split, such as Holly Willoughby Phillip Schofield and Stephen Mulhern.
A source tells Closer, “It’s going to really shock Ant because he won’t believe just how many big stars are desperate to cheer her on. There’s no doubt it’s going to stir up some strong feelings in him, but if he does have a problem with any of it, Lisa thinks that would be a very sad and bitter place to be in.”
