After giving minimal response to the headlines about his tempestuous love life, Kyle Walker publicly confessed last week to betraying his “soulmate and best friend”, estranged wife Annie Kilner, by fathering a second child with Lauryn Goodman.
The couple – who share three sons, Roman, Riaan and Reign and have a fourth child on the way – are childhood sweethearts and tied the knot in November 2021. But the year prior, their relationship was rocked when it emerged that Manchester City footballer Kyle had fathered a son, Kairo, with model Lauryn. Annie, 31, and Kyle were separated at the time and she chose to forgive him for the sake of their children, but last month she announced their separation amid extensive reports that Kyle had fathered a second child, a secret daughter, with Lauryn.
Confirming his infidelities in an interview, the sportsman, 33, said he “made idiot choices and idiot decisions”, before detailing how he met with Lauryn, 33, in October 2022 during a trip to London for groin surgery.
“It wasn’t intentional or premeditated, but I slept with her. A lot was going on. It’s not an excuse. I’d ruptured my groin, I had a World Cup to get fighting fit for,” he said, adding that he went into “survival mode” when Lauryn dropped the bombshell that she was pregnant with their second child.
As well as apologising to his wife, Kyle insisted there was “no relationship” with Lauryn, whom he’d known since his early twenties.
“To have a relationship with someone... Would she know how many sugars I have in my coffee, if I have sugars? She couldn’t tell you,” he said.
From there, a case of tit-for-tat ensued on social media between Lauryn – the older sister of former Ex On The Beach star Chloe – and Annie’s sister Sian. After sharing a thinly veiled dig about “pathological narcissists”, Lauryn followed it up with what was widely believed to be a retort to Kyle’s coffee swipe. “Flat white no sugars please,” she wrote.
Sian, who has rarely commented on Annie’s relationship, hit back at Lauryn in a seething comment and shut down her claims she and Kyle had been in a "loving relationship”.
Tagging Lauryn’s Instagram handle, Sian wrote, “When does your torment end? My sister who is now 7 months pregnant has faced your cruelty for almost 5 years now. What’s your goal? To see how much stress you can put on a pregnant woman? To create a false victim narrative around what you did? You clearly lack empathy but this level of evil is out of control and harms everyone – especially the children.
“Stop accusing others: your true self is revealed. The socalled ‘loving relationship’ is a facade… It’s not fooling anyone so why don’t you just give us all a break and stop? Also, he has one sugar, Nestlé coffee mate and semi-skimmed milk. But that’s the coffee you get at home… Not the ones in hotels or Airbnbs.”
Following Kyle’s frank interview and the subsequent social media outbursts, former WAG Lizzie Cundy shares her thoughts as the saga rolls on.
Lizzie, 55, was embroiled in her own WAG scandal in 2010 when her now ex-husband, former Chelsea footballer Jason Cundy, cheated on her after 16 years of marriage with Hannah Pedley, who he later married.
Now Lizzie, who has met Lauryn on the party circuit, says, “The whole situation is so mad, I wouldn’t be surprised if Kyle ends up with Lauryn. It’s clear that his wife Annie is not taking him back now, so he’ll go back to Lauryn. Men need a security net and with Lauryn, they already have a family together.
“With Annie, there’s just too much hurt there and too much past trauma. She could never trust him again. Lauryn is still clearly in love with Kyle. She’s acting like she’s completely obsessed by him. She’s even given the kids his surname. All the vitriol between them shows there’s still passion. There’s still chemistry there and strong feelings.”
It has been a traumatic time for both women, what with Annie months away from welcoming baby number four, and Lauryn reportedly finding herself at “breaking point”.
And Lizzie adds, “Both women are the victims, sadly. My heart goes out to both of them. They’ve both been played by Kyle. He knows what he’s been doing and thought that he’d get away with it. He looks all upset now because he got caught out. That’s the only reason.
“Both girls are now getting trolled, which is completely unfair. I blame the football clubs. The footballers get told they’re amazing from the age of seven, they don’t get any personal discipline and they’re told they’re invincible. Many have a god-like complex and they’re on wages over £300k a week. It’s no wonder they feel like they can treat people like this.”
