American model Ashley Graham has launched her own plus-size clothing range, and it seems fitness fan Lauren Goodger is NOT impressed with the message she’s promoting.
Taking to her new! column, Lauren – who shrunk down to a size 10 last year) - has claimed that carrying up to a size 28 send out the wrong message to young women.
The former TOWIE star wrote:
"Her range caters up to a size 28 and I don’t believe it’s safe to be so big. In my opinion, anything above a size 18 is unhealthy."
Lauren has been a yo-yo dieter herself, but managed to keep off the four stone she lost last year, turning over a new fit-and-healthy leaf.
And, while she commends the size 16 model for championing body confidence, and telling women it’s OK to love your body, Lauren was concerned that Ashley James's new range tells women that it’s OK to be dangerously overweight.
She wrote:
"I think it sends out the wrong message to girls.
"It’s unhealthy to be overweight or underweight, and making clothing ranges in such extreme sizes will encourage impressionable girls."
Previously talking to Closer about her new shape, Lauren revealed how her lifestyle in Essex made her pile on pounds. She said:
“Everyone in Essex would goes out a lot because they enjoy the luxury lifestyle, but I was extreme. I’d go out every night and down Champagne, vodka and countless sugary cocktails.
“I would have a huge dinner beforehand and then Jorge on junk – crisps, chocolate, pizza, fried chicken – the next day because I was hungover.
“I was probably having 5,000 calories a day - I wouldn’t exercise. I was in a vicious cycle and each month I would get bigger and bigger.”
“My previous diets didn’t work because they were too extreme. Lerning to eats healthily and allow myself treats in moderation has given me an eating plan I can actually stick too.”
