Last week Love Island 2018 star Laura Anderson announced the happy news that she is expecting her first child with Gary Lucy, taking to Instagram with a montage of her pregnancy journey so far.
But since the Scotswoman announced the news, it has emerged that she has split from 41-year-old Gary, with the soap star saying, “I love Laura but we are no longer together. My main drive, as always, is to work together to co-parent our child.”
The couple met during filming for Celebs Go Dating last July, with rumours circulating that reality star Laura called time on their brief romance after discovering she was pregnant, and is now vowing to raise the child as a single parent.
And an insider tells Closer, “It’s a scary time for Laura but at the end of the day, she would rather be on her own than with someone who doesn’t make her feel entirely happy. It’s not an easy decision for her, but she doesn’t want to raise a baby around conflict.
“She knows there are couples out there that stay together for the sake of the kids, but she can’t do it – and is actually feeling quite empowered by her decision.
“She’s feeling inspired to be the best mum she can be and knows that she can do this alone. Of course, she’s got family and friends who will help her, and Gary has also vowed to be a supportive dad. She knows that he is already a great father to his other children and although he wanted this to work, he also realises he has to respect her decision. She’s excited about starting this new chapter of her life on her own and on her own terms.”
