Katie Price has opened up about making a huge sacrifice for her terminally ill mother Amy by offering her one of her lungs.
Amy was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis – which causes scarring in the lungs and makes breathing difficult – in 2017 and given three to five years to live. But while Amy continues to await a donor to alleviate some of her symptoms, Katie has offered up her own lung.
Speaking on Simon Thomas’ Life, Interrupted podcast, Katie said, "My mum, she's never smoked, [she's] always been healthy. She got told a couple years [ago], coming up to three years, that she would have three to five years left of her life. You know, it's going to happen.
"She still does a spinning classes. She's got like 34 per cent left of her lung capacity, so she has started oxygen, which isn't nice to see because I, in my head, it's that once you start the oxygen and you need that, you know it's coming."

She continued, "So she's waiting to see if she can have a lung transplant. I even offered my lung to her."
In April of this year Katie gave fans an update on her mum’s condition, appearing on a mini documentary segment on Steph’s Packed Lunch where she was seen speaking to Amy over FaceTime.

In the video, Amy struggled through a coughing fit as Katie urged her to turn her oxygen up.
"It's because you don't want to turn it up," says Katie. "That's why - you don't want to rely on it."
The film sees Katie visit a mindfulness coach to help her make the most of Amy’s final months, and the former glamour model says, "My mum is my absolute rock, my absolute best friend.
"To be told she’s got an incurable breathing disease breaks my heart. Sadly, she hasn’t got long left to live."
