Insiders say Katie Price is causing panic among friends and family as she brazenly jets off on holiday despite new legal woes with ex-husband Kieran Hayler.
She hit the headlines for dodging jail yet again last week after breaching a restraining order against ex-husband Kieran Hayler’s fiancée, Michelle Penticost.
But only several days after her court appearance, she and fiancé Carl Woods were pictured having just touched down at an airport in Thailand, ahead of a loved-up holiday – seemingly without a care in the world.
Katie, 44, had headed to court in June for breaking a restraining order placed against her in 2019 after she called Michelle a “f**king c*** in an explosive tirade at the school gates – and was forbidden from contacting her “directly or indirectly.”
But she’d reportedly sent a message to Kieran branding Michelle a “gutter s**g” back in January, which indirectly breached the order, landing the ex-glamour model with an 18-month community order to carry out 170 hours of unpaid work and pay £1,500 costs.
However, while living it up in Thailand, it was alleged that Katie – who shares son Jett, eight, and daughter Bunny, seven, with ex Kieran – had breached the restraining order again. She was reported for allegedly asking one of their children to “pass a message on to Michelle, allegedly telling them to “tell Michelle she can’t send her to prison”.
Last week, Closer reported how Katie’s family – including her terminally ill mum Amy and half-sister Sophie – were worried for the star and hoped that narrowly avoiding prison had been something of a wake-up call for her.
Despite the legal dramas, insiders have told Closer that the mum-of-five feels “invincible” and is using her holiday with Carl to celebrate her “victory.”
A source says, “Katie’s been bragging that she’s got nine lives after being spared jail again. But rather than wanting to lay low for a bit or learn from her mistakes, she’s told pals that for her it’s one big game and she isn’t afraid to live life on the edge. She follows her every impulse without ever thinking of the consequences.” Following Katie’s court verdict last week, Kieran and Michelle admitted to feeling “incredibly disappointed”.
Kieran stated, “We feel a custodial sentence would have sent the right message to the public given the seriousness of Miss Price’s offending.”
Meanwhile, a victim impact statement read out in court stated that Michelle feels, “threatened, intimidated and demoralised” by Katie’s actions and her use of language made her feel “scared”. Kieran also reported Katie to the police in April after she shared a video filmed in her car where Jett wasn’t wearing a seatbelt. The same month, he sought legal action when his ex-wife compared him to paedophile Jimmy Savile. In December 2021, Kieran voiced hopes that Katie could “turn her life around” after receiving a 16-week suspended sentence for a drink-driving crash three months prior.
He said at the time, “Kate has to understand what she has done is wrong and that there are consequences to her actions. We both as parents have to bring our children up to learn they should not break the law and that if they do break the law, it is the law and it has consequences. I think she is turning her life around and I hope that she can, I really do. I’m not here to slag Kate off, I want her to be the best mum she can be to the children.”
And the source says that, while Kieran values Katie as his children’s mother, he wants her to face up to her actions. “Kieran’s top priority is the wellbeing of his kids and, while he has respect for Katie as Bunny and Jett’s mum, he really wants her to change and without reporting things she does wrong, she won’t be able to do that.
“If another trial and a jail sentence is what it takes to do that, then so be it. He just wants her to be in the best place she can be for her to be a parent to Bunny and Jett.”
Since her latest bout of legal woes, Katie’s friends and family worry that she is on her “ninth life” and could bring harm to herself or others if she slips up again.
Our insider adds, “Katie thinks that because she’s seen as a hot mess in the public eye, people will always go easy on her. Katie’s ethos is that life is short and she might as well enjoy it. She’s been judged and criticised her whole life and always managed to make a comeback somehow, so she’s not going to change her ways now.
“Her close family initially thought that the prospect of a jail sentence would scare Katie into playing by the rules, but after bucking the system it only made her want to take more risks. Everyone’s scared what could happen next.”
