Katie, 38, hit out at those who say that Kate and Prince William should not have left their baby behind when they jetted off to The Maldives.

She said: “The stay-at-homers are flapping their bingo wings in fury. How dare she leave her baby? What a terrible mother! How could you do that at eight months – EIGHT MONTHS? I am with Kate on this one.”

Katie sympathised that the Duchess of Cambridge needs to have a break from life occasionally, and that having a baby shouldn’t have to stop her.

“After all this time cooped up like the snow Princess Elsa in her own icy kingdom, she needs to hit some sunshine and thaw out.

“Let’s face it – a mother-in-law can send you screaming into a pillow at the best of times,” she said. “Imagine having to curtsey to her when she gets on your wick.”

Controversial Katie insisted that baby George probably adds to the need for Kate to get away, saying: “Baby George will have added to the loneliness. Babies may be many things – but they are not good company.

“Most working mums acknowledge babies are boring, even if they have to keep this a secret from the scowling mob of school gate mums.”

Katie then went on to suggest that this is the reason why there is such a low rate of men who take paternity leave.

She said: “Most dads would rather put their head in the baby’s bottle steamer than give up contact with the sanity of the working world.”

Former Apprentice star Katie praised the Royal couple, saying that they need to take time away from life and from their baby.

She thinks it's important to remeber what life was like before the baby came along

“Kate and Wills need time on their own just being a couple to remember what life was like before baby George. Most parents know that only by holding on to the good bits and fighting like hell for time alone together can you retain any sense of the couple you used to be.

“I believe you need to be a couple first, parents second. Making it to the cinema or out for a meal is a achievement. Making it to the Maldives is an aspiration. George will be perfectly happy at home with Grandma. Bitter mums can button it and butt out.”
