Katie Hopkins: ‘Make the unemployed do national service’

Katie Hopkins has sparked controversy yet again by suggesting that those who are unemployed should be made to sign up to national service.

The social commentator took to Twitter to share her thoughts on how to combat unemployment, writing to her followers: “If you have no job, no hope and want to take benefits - National Service feels like a far better investment of government cash than JSA.”

Katie was tweeting whilst watching Channel 4’s Commando School, which takes viewers behind the scenes of ‘one of the most arduous basic military training programmes in the world.’

It was during this that the 39-year-old decided to share her thoughts on national service and unemployment after being inspired by what she saw.

“National Service would transform outlook & opportunity for young people in the UK. Every kid should endure the bottom field #CommandoSchool,” Katie wrote.

The former Apprentice contestant has remained consistently outspoken about the benefits system via social media and her many columns, calling for governments to force the unemployed to take responsibility for themselves.

Katie recently went as far to suggest that those on unemployment benefits should wear uniforms to defer them from claiming JSA.
