Kate Ferdinand has announced the loss of her unborn baby with husband Rio Ferdinand.

The former TOWIE star took to Instagram to update her 1.4million Instagram followers with the sad news, saying she is “devastated and heartbroken”.

Kate, 31, captioned a black-and-white image of her feet resting against a hospital bed, “The last time I was in this hospital I was having Cree, but this time it was because our baby had no heartbeat in our 12 week scan and I had to have surgery 💔.

"We were so excited & planning a space for our new baby in our family, we just couldn’t wait to share our news with you all, but unfortunately sometimes life just doesn’t go as we plan."

She continued, "So much to say, but somehow I can’t find the words. Absolutely devastated & heartbroken… but couldn’t be more grateful for the hugs I got from my big(ger) babies coming through the door when we arrived home 💔🙏🏻”.

Kate and former England footballer Rio, 43, share one son, Cree, nineteen months, and the reality star is also a stepmum to her husband’s three children - Lorenz, 16, Tate, 13, and Tia, 11 - from his first marriage to late wife Rebecca Ellison.

The post was immediately flooded with supportive messages.

Molly-Mae Hague wrote, “I’m so beyond sorry Kate 💔 sending you all the [love] in the world.”

“So sorry Kate. Sending you so much love 🤍,” Michelle Keegan commented.

A string of Kate’s TOWIE co-stars also rallied around in the wake of her tragedy, with sisters Sam and Billie Faiers, Georgia Kousolou, Lauren Pope, Danielle Armstrong and Mario Falcone amongst those to send their love and prayers.

Kate often speaks candidly about parenthood and her blended family. She recently said, “I’m stronger than I thought I was. It takes patience, understanding and strength to raise four children. But I love it so much – I wouldn’t change it for anything.”
