After a long summer of drinking cocktails, TV personality and model Imogen Thomas is ready to go sober. But her ban on the booze isn’t just for the clear skin and reduced waistline. Imogen is joining Cancer Research UK’s Dryathalon this September to help raise money for the charity’s vital work.

Fans of the Welsh beauty will know Imogen has had a difficult year since her father passed away from cancer, spending days in the hospital with her baby daughter Siera, and facing down trolls who called her ‘fat’ after she gained a perfectly healthy amount of weight during pregnancy.

Imogen has said nothing in her crazy world compares to what cancer patients go through, so she’s swapping the (actual) martinis for her own burlesque show this September as she plunges into the month long booze-free challenge in 50s-inspired style.

The former Big Brother star is encouraging people across the UK to join her in the fight against cancer. She revealed: “Losing my beloved dad to cancer was one of the most heart-breaking things to happen to me. I miss him terribly and he’s not going to see my daughters grow up.

“Too many people have been affected by this awful disease so it is so important to raise money for research that will help bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.

“Taking on Dryathlon and giving up alcohol for a month is certainly a challenge, but it’s one I’m determined to do. Being sober doesn’t mean being boring – just think of what you could achieve on those headache-free Saturdays!”

We admire Imogen’s commitment to a cause that has raised more than £19.5 million for pioneering work into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
