It’s easy to follow your favourite celebrities on social media and wonder how they manage to look so perfect all the time, and when you’re seeing famous mummies who are able to snap back to their pre-baby bodies almost instantly, it can be really disheartening for mums who are trying and struggling to shift any pregnancy pounds.
But Olympic medallist, Jessica Ennis-Hill, has spoken out to offer her support and advice to new mums who are trying to lose weight and attempting to start exercising too quickly after they’ve given birth.
All mothers will know that while carrying your little one for nine months, and then after giving birth to your bundle of joy, your body will constantly be going through many changes. Therefore it’s important that we don’t get carried away, trying to suddenly force our bodies to look a certain way immediately after giving birth to your little one.
Following the likes of Rebecca Adlington, Imogen Thomas and Sam Faiers, Jessica wants to let women know that although she may appear to have her infamous abs back after giving birth just 18 months ago, people need to remember that as an athlete it is her job to train very hard every day. It’s so refreshing to hear a celebrity using her voice to encourage new mums to slow down and listen to their bodies.
Speaking to Cosmopolitan.co.uk, Jessica said: “It takes time and I think it’s really important that mums don’t feel like they have to have the baby and then the next week start running and doing sit-ups.”
We completely agree with you Jessica! It’s so important that mums are ready, physically and mentally, before they try to get their pre-baby body back.
