Fresh from her pregnancy news, Jemma Lucy opens up about how impending motherhood has calmed her down and why she's worried about being judged for her saucy career
For most expectant mothers, seeing those two lines appear on a pregnancy test comes as a shock regardless of their circumstances. Not least for Jemma Lucy, who is thrilled to announce her pregnancy, but admits that it’s not been an easy ride so far.
“My stomach sank when I first saw the test and I felt a mixture of fear, worry and excitement – it was a huge shock. I didn’t know whether or not I wanted to keep the baby at first, but with time I grew to realise I did want to. I’m 30 and I’m ready to be a mum. I see this pregnancy as a blessing and that it was meant to be,” she smiles, stroking her 20-week baby bump.
And the reality star – who was on contraception, which failed – says she’s keen to keep the identity of the father private.
She adds, “The baby’s dad is someone who I have known for a while. He’s not in the public eye, so it’s not my place to name him, and we’ve always had a private relationship. But he’s been supportive and we both just want the best for our baby.”
And like many women, Jemma – who is due to give birth in June – hasn’t found pregnancy smooth-sailing so far.
She says, “I felt exhausted and was very sick during the first three months. Just walking up the stairs would tire me out! Even now, my moods are all over the place and I cry at everything!”
In fact, the star – who has been famed in the past for her rages and outbursts on reality TV – says impending parenthood has calmed her down.
“I feel like I’ve softened already,” she laughs. “Even with my musical taste – I used to only ever listen to grime and rap, and recently I’ve started to play things like Kelly Clarkson and I really enjoy it!”

Jemma Lucy: 'Katie Price could end up DEAD if she doesn't get help'
Katie Price forced to REMOVE Barbie jeep from eBay despite £66k bids
Jemma used to be well-known for her party lifestyle – and even once lived with her former mentor Katie Price (aka Jordan) – but now admits she’s no longer interested in big nights out.
Jemma says, “I gave up partying about two years ago and my lifestyle is all about the gym and riding my horses these days. I’ll still go out sometimes, but only for an hour and, of course, I don’t drink. I’m over crazy partying now.”
And she says that her relationship with her parents has improved in recent months, too. The reality star admits they’ve always had an up-and-down relationship but now she says they are supportive of the pregnancy, despite once disowning her.
“My mum and dad were worried at first that I wasn’t ready for a baby,” says Jemma. “But I think they can now see that I am. They are supportive, but they live in Singapore, so it’s not the same as having family around the corner.
“I want my child to have hobbies like piano classes or horse-riding lessons in the future if that’s what they choose, and I want to be able to afford it. I’ll work hard now, so that I can relax when the baby is here and just enjoy having him or her.”

WATCH from divorce to lap-dancing for Arg from TOWIE, it's Katie Price's year from hell
But something the former Ex On The Beach star is worried about is being judged for the way she earns a living. She currently runs an adult dating site – Jem’s Playground – and takes part in raunchy photo shoots.
“I do sometimes do sexy shoots and I am worried about being attacked or judged for it now people know I am pregnant,” she confesses. “If I’m being completely honest, I judge myself a little for what I do and I’d rather not be posing provocatively, but it’s how I make a living and I have to support myself and the baby. I’m working on other projects too that are completely different and will help support us financially.
And the star is looking forward to her body continuing to change during pregnancy. Jemma has had a breast enhancement and three Brazilian bum lifts to try to achieve the figure she desires, so she’s excited about the prospect of gaining extra curves.
She says, “I’ve always wanted to be bigger, but I am naturally slim and find it hard to put on weight. So I am excited about my bump growing and getting curvier. And I’ll still do my photo shoots, just with a bump – though of course they won’t be raunchy! But I’ll carry on going to the gym throughout my pregnancy because I want to stay fit. Once the baby is here, I’ll try to get my body back as much as I can, but I am realistic and won’t put pressure on myself.”
And as far as the future is concerned, Jemma admits she’d love to have more children one day.
She smiles, “I’ve never been someone who plans far ahead, but I’d love to have another child at some point. I’d love two children – a boy and a girl. But I could say that and then want five kids! Who knows what the future holds.”
