Jade Goody's tragic death in 2009 hit home to everyone in the UK that cancer can strike at any moment - even at the age of 27 when you have two young sons.
Despite not being together at the time of her death, Jade had remained good friends with her ex Jeff Brazier, father of her two sons Bobby and Freddie, now 12 and 11, and left him full custody in her will.
Jeff has gone on to become a life coach since Jade's death, being seen as something of an expert on how to be a single dad.
But even he has dark days, admitting that he quite often takes the brunt of his sons' grief and anger at the loss of their mum.
In a candid interview with The Sun, he revealed: "The worst possible thing I've heard from both boys would be: 'I wish it was you that was dead and not Mum.'"
Kids can say awful things and we know they don't mean it, but something like that must be hard to deal with.
But the 38-year-old, who is releasing a self-help book about dealing with grief this year, did not take offence at the comments. He said: "Grief generates the worst possible feelings, it really clouds your judgement.
"The words they come out with, they're not always in control of and they're just saying them because what they're actually trying to say is, 'Dad, help me'."
Jeff's strong words have been a help to many people over the years - most recently after the showing of Rio Ferdinand's documentary in which he dealt with the death of his wife, Rebecca, offering help and advice to parents who phoned into This Morning.
