Jasmine Lennard has hit out at Kate and Gerry McCann’s Portuguese lawyer after he branded people that blamed them for their daughter’s disappearance as “ignorant”.
Rogerio Alves claims that the belief Kate and Gerry had anything to do with Madeleine’s situation is “unfounded and absurd”.
Maddie vanished from the couple’s holiday apartment in Portugal while they left her sleeping as they dined nearby in the complex 10 years ago.
The parents were at first suspects but this status was later dropped after questioning.
Some people think they had something to do with the death of their daughter and covered it up by faking an abduction.
But, according to The Sun, their lawyer said: “The parents’ involvement was dealt with at the time by the original investigation by the Portuguese.
“We’re happy that’s completely dealt with and there is no reason whatsoever to re-open that or start rumours that’s a line of investigation.”
He added: “As no sign of a homicide, a suicide, her being run over, a drowning, or anything else that could also be plausible has been found, the theory of an abduction is the one that makes most sense.”
Mr Alves insisted that the parents covering up Maddie’s death is “fantasy” and said people were just as likely to blame her disappearance on Superman or UFOs.
After reading his words, model and former Celebrity Big Brother housemate Jasmine launched into a rant on Twitter.
She wrote: “UNREAL. What position are Jerry and Kate McCann in to call anyone ignorant?
“Let’s look at the word ignorant. What’s the opposite of the word ignorant? - aware, competent, intelligent, knowledgable, wise.
“Can any of those words be used to describe the McCann’s? NO. These are two people who left three children under the age of five alone in the middle of the night in a space that wasn’t familiar to them in a foreign country so they could go and enjoy a night out. There’s NO EXCUSE FOR IT.”
She added: “How dare they attack the public for questioning them after they made a fatal decision that 99.9% of other parents WOULDN’T have made.
“WHATEVER happened to her happened because they left her alone. I would never in a million years have done that.”
Police involved in the case recently revealed they may have made a breakthrough and think Madeleine might have been abducted in a burglary that went wrong.
