Lee Gaze and Stuart Richardson have revealed they can barely bring themselves to listen to their past music after discovering the dark truth about Watkins, saying the music is now 'tainted.'

According to the musicians, Watkins continued to maintain he was innocent right until the end, and that many around him believed him.

'I can't believe the things Ian's capable of' said Richardson. 'Up until the final second he said he was innocent. He destroyed his family's life, giving them a glimpse of hope every time he said he was innocent. His mum thought he was innocent. What a f_ing c_.'

Watkins was sentenced to 29 years in prison, with another six on licence, after he admitted the attempted rape and sexual assault of a child under 13.

He also admitted to conspiring to rape a child, three counts of sexual assault involving children, making or possessing indecent images of children and one of possessing an extreme pornographic image involving a sex act on an animal.

DID FAME DELAY JUSTICE IN THE CASE OF IAN WATKINS?

All of the members of Lost Prophets (minus Ian) have children, something which makes the betrayal seem even worse. Richardson's daughter even used to call him 'Uncle Ian' when she saw him, something which now sends shivers down the spine.

Stuart Richardson says he believes a 'change' happened in Watkins when he started abusing drugs, as the singer had previously been straight-edge and avoided mind-alterering substances.

Progressing from cocaine to crystal meth, Ian became increasingly unreliable, with his bandmates saying they expected a call telling them he had died at any moment.

In a statement released at the time of the revelations, Lost Prophets said:

'Many of you understandably want to know if we knew what Ian was doing. To be clear: we did not. We are heartbroken, angry and disgusted at what has been revealed.'

Richardson revealed that he has smashed his platinum edition of Liberation Transmission, and has put the rest of the records in the garage. 'They'll probably never come out again' he said.
