The talented actress is best known for playing Trixie Franklin in Call the Midwife, as well as taking part in Strictly Come Dancing.

She is! Excitingly she arrived at the recent TV Choice awards heavily pregnant, which was a surprise for fans. We don't know how she managed to keep it under wraps for eight months, but we're excited to see whether her Call the Midwife experience comes in handy!

Helen was cast as Trixie Franklin from the very first series of Call the Midwife, and is still in the show as we approach series 7. She was anxious about working along stalwarts Pam Ferris and Jenny Agutter, so she made sure to train in the medical techniques of the 1950s – adorably practising ‘birthing’ her Yorkshire terrier!

Just after announcing her divorce, Helen threw herself into series 13 of Strictly Come Dancing and was partnered with Alijaz Skorjanec, finishing in 6th place. Their highest scoring dance was the Viennese Waltz.

She was eliminated in week 11 of Strictly Come Dancing – Musicals Week.

Helen George: marathon woman!

Helen has always been sporty – as a child she wanted to be a long jumper or a football manager. So it’s no surprise that she’s still in great shape, and completed the London Marathon in 2015.

No, Helen was married to actor Oliver Boot for three years. But (perhaps because of the famous ‘Strictly curse’) the pair decided to divorce in September 2015.

She’s now in a relationship with Jack Ashton, who plays Rev Tom Hereward, having joined in series 3 of Call the Midwife. Of course, as any Call the Midwife fan will know, it’s a funny situation as their characters on the show were also in a relationship, and then split up, while Helen and Jack are still going strong. It doesn't seem to have bothered them though, and the two are now expecting their first child.
