The constant seizures have meant Max has suffered ‘irreparable brain’ damage which prevents him from making friends his own age.
Max requires 24-hour care and in severe cases, sufferers can have seizures which result in Sudden Unexplained Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP).
The drug will not be able to cure Max but could help relieve some of the symptoms.
“Medicinal cannabis is produced in laboratories and all the psychotics and hallucinogens, anything that some might regard as the fun stuff that gets you high, all that has been taken out,” Steph explained to the Daily Mail.
The couple, who have also appeared on The Jump and Hunted are famous for their rip-roaring and upbeat personalities, will show a different side to themselves in this emotional Channel 4 documentary.
Steph described the combination of Max’s age and condition as “a terrible, perfect storm” while Dom added that he would simply “love to have a conversation with him.”

Medicinal cannabis hit the headlines last year when the parents of two epilepsy sufferers wanted to use it to help their sick children.
Thirteen-year-old epilepsy sufferer Billy Caldwell’s cannabis oil was confiscated when his mother returned from a trip to Canada. The parents of seven-year-old Alfie Dingley, who also suffers from epilepsy, found that cannabis-based medication improved his condition but it was previously outlawed in the UK.
Both of these high-profile cases were allowed to use cannabis after campaigns and petitions. However, medicinal cannabis can still only be prescribed by specialist doctors as the benefits and risks of the substance is still relatively unknown.
