Gogglebox sisters Ellie and Izzi angered viewers of the show after making a joke about the man who was dragged of a United Airlines flight last week.

David Dao was physically removed from his seat by police and security, dragged down the aisle of the plane and left with blood on his face after he refused to get off the flight so his seat could be used for airline staff.

Video footage of the incident circulated online and shocked people around the world as it made the headlines.

A news segment about the situation was aired on Gogglebox on Friday night prompting the siblings to make light of the event.

Ellie said the clip would be good for an entertaining Snapchat story, with Izzi asking: “What caption would you do?”

Her sister replied: “When they tell you no booze left on the flight.”

This did not go down well with some viewers who branded them “insensitive”.

One person tweeted: “Find it disgusting that the sisters on Gogglebox would have put a video like that on Snapchat.”

Another wrote: “@elleieandizzi should be ashamed of themselves saying the United Airlines incident would have made a great Snapchat story.”

Someone else commented: “The sisters joking that they would put the United Airlines incident on their Snapchat if they were there, they really are thick.”
