It was set to be one of the most glamorous weddings Essex had ever seen. But Gemma Collins’ dream big day is being put on hold.

The former TOWIE favourite, 41, is due to tie the knot with her fiancé Rami Hawash, but now reveals she’s putting her nuptials on the backburner partly because of money worries.

Gemma – who first dated and was briefly engaged to businessman Rami for three years until 2014, before rekindling their romance in 2021 – admitted that the current financial downturn was part of the reason she’s not so keen to tie the knot. She said, “I just think these are worrying times and we must be careful, so to start planning a GC wedding is not really important.”

Gemma – who has an estimated fortune of £2.7 million and last year purchased a £1.3 million, five-bedroom barn conversion – continued, “I’d rather spend the money on properties, building the portfolio. But it will happen.

“We’re living in different times – I think marriage might be a bit old hat. It’s really scary, especially if you’re going to
get divorced. I’m getting older now, I’ve not got time to make it back! So you’ve just got to be real about the situation.”

And while she clearly loves her partner, Gemma is still keen to be her own woman.

Insisting that she’s not putting her wedding off due to wanting to sign a prenuptial agreement, she explained, “It’s not that – Rami’s got his own business, he does really well for himself as well. I’ll just know when the time’s right, and I still feel so young. Am I ready to put the pipe and slippers on now? No! I’m a free, ethereal spirit.

“I’ve got lots of projects for next year. I don’t want the pressure of a big day, I’m not feeling that big day vibe. I love Mykonos, obviously, I saw a venue this year, but it’d just be very low-key. I don’t want some big dress. I want to try to have a baby first, and not be in any rush.”
