Declared bankrupt for a second time, owing over £761,000 in unpaid tax, Katie Price failed to show up to the court hearing last week after yet another roller-coaster few months that insiders say have left her friends fearful things have once again reached a desperate state for the star.

Earlier this month, the former glamour model was fined £880 for driving without a licence and insurance while on a two-year driving ban. It followed a spate of new surgeries and partying for the troubled star, who was ordered into rehab by a court in 2021 after a shocking drink-drive car crash.

A source tells Closer, “The constant court cases are not good but Katie won’t accept that there are consequences. Whenever she gets bad news, she tends to laugh it off and try to carry on as normal but her closest friends are starting to worry this could be her downfall.

“Her mum, sister and friends tell her to stop glossing over her problems, but time and time again she struggles to do that. Katie just acts like it’s funny or blames her ADHD.”

The former Page 3 model, 45 – also known as Jordan – only discovered her latest bankruptcy when she was told during a recording for a podcast last week.

After questioning, “What have I done now?” when informed a news story about her had broken during the recording, Katie tried to justify her absence from court, saying, “I know I had court last week or the week before. Because of what's going on in my life, I've actually been signed off because I'm dealing with serious stuff.”

Insisting that there are “different kinds of bankruptcy”, she added, “And trust me, I don't get away with stuff either. Like you can't – tax you can't ever run away from, you have to pay. Don't think I sit here and don't pay stuff, because I do.”

In another interview, Katie – who is mum to disabled son Harvey, 21, Junior, 18, Princess, 16, Jett, 10, and Bunny, nine – said she hasn’t been able to attend court for mental health reasons.

“There's a shortage of ADHD meds, that don't help, I can't get hold of any,” she explained when discussing her no-show.

Mum-of-five Katie has had multiple run-ins with the law over the years, predominantly for driving offences.

However, Katie chose to shrug off her legal woes the very day she was ruled bankrupt, as she partied the night away with her new boyfriend, MAFS UK star JJ Slater, enjoying the free-flowing alcohol and posing for smiley photos with fans and fellow celebrities.

And while our insider shares that her friends are worried about her antics, Katie – once said to be worth £40 million – is adamant that she’ll rise from the ashes.

“Katie is defiant, saying bankruptcy won’t stop her from earning millions again. She says nothing and no one will break her,” our source says. “She’s still earning and argues that just some of it’s being taken to pay off some debts. She’s not scared. She argues that she turns everything into success – she’s self-made and will keep re-inventing herself for as long as it takes.”
