Ferne McCann may have deleted all traces of her boyfriend, Arthur Collins, from her Instagram but it looks as though his crimes could be catching up with her.
Police issued an appeal this week to find Arthur, 25, who they are searching for in connection to an acid attack at an East London nightclub over the bank holiday weekend. Around twenty people were affected by the attack, with one victim now blind in one eye. It happened in the early hours of Monday morning when a fight broke out and two men were sprayed in the face with a noxious substance.
Former TOWIE star Ferne has worked hard to carve a career for herself in the industry, quitting the Essex reality TV show and going on take second place during her stint I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! last year.
She also has a presenting job on This Morning and appeared on Celebs Go Dating.
However, it looks as though her boyfriend’s misdemeanours could have a serious impact on Ferne’s TV career.
Although she has publically asked Arthur to ‘co-operate fully’ with the police, reports suggest that those behind the scenes at ITV are questioning her position on This Morning.
A source told The Sun: “In light of events Ferne’s management have asked if she can take a couple of weeks off from filming This Morning.”
Another insider said: “ITV bosses like Ferne and appreciate the work she’s been doing on the show, but it’s a family programme and given the headlines that she’s attracting now, it’s not the sort of image they want to be associated with.
“Families watch this show, it’s the home of the biggest names on TV so bosses have a duty to maintain a wholesome image.
“At the moment Ferne has no appearances on This Morning planned.”
A spokesperson for The Morning confirmed her absence, saying: “There are no appearances currently scheduled for Ferne but she is a regular contributor on the show.”
Days before the news broke that Arthur was wanted by police, Ferne spoke about her desire to move in with him as soon as possible, and even discussed their wedding plans.
Talking to OK magazine, she said: “We’ve spoken about our wedding – we want to get married on a beach.
“I want these long extensions, mermaid-style hair covering my breasts, with flowers in my hair and no shows. He can wear shorts and a shirt undone, then we want an amazing DJ with bongos and a saxophonist.”
However, in light of recent events Ferne appears to have disowned her wanted boyfriend, deleting all traces of him from her social media as a sign of her distance.
A source close to Ferne said: “She is sending a clear message that their relationship is over - it’s like she’s wiping him from her life by erasing any trace of their time together.
“The past few days have been devastating, and this is a way of showing Arthur is no longer part of her life.”
Police raided Arthur’s £1 million family home in Hertfordshire earlier this week, and although they are yet to find the scaffolder they allegedly found cannabis, drug-farming equipment and illegal firearms.
