But when one Twitter user wrote to her children, Kai and Jody, she immediately enlisted the help of her fans to track down the troll.

In the message, user asked the youngsters: “Would you like a copy of a truth book about the real Danniella Westbrook – interviews by her exes, friends and family. Out 26th August 2016.”

Offensive messages appear to have been directed at Danniella, too, and she called on her Twitter following to help her catch the person behind the abuse.

“Anyone know this troll threatening myself my family my kids my followers police involved but share and message me if you know her she’s one sick cookie,” Danniella posted on her account.

She later thanked her fans for their help and support and informed them that she had taken action by contacting the police.

Danniella recently returned to Walford for the funeral of her on-screen mum, Peggy Mitchell.
