Coronation Street actress Jennie McAlpine appeared on Loose Women yesterday - to talk about her secret wedding.
The actress married her beau Chris Farr, a restaurant manager, on Jan 6 at the Trafford Town Hall in Manchester. The couple have been together since 2005.
Discussing her wedding on the talk show, she said that there was only her, Chris, their two-year-old son Albert and two witnesses in attendance at the private ceremony.
Panellist Jane Moore said what an "achievement" it was to have pulled the wedding off without anyone knowing, and Jennie explained that it might not have gone that way.
Jennie, who has played the character Fiz Brown on Corrie since 2001, said: "We live in Manchester so wanted to get married in Manchester city centre, and at the registry office it said our names on a board - and it's there for 28 days."
It's a wonder no-one spotted it!
She also described how people do check the boards to see if any famous names have given birth - so it was even more of a miracle.
Nadia Sawalha then asked how important a secret ceremony was to Jennie, and she replied: "Well... Secret? It was more of a surprise really!
"Our parents knew that it was happening - my dad knows me, and he knows that's what I would have done."
She said she'd even been asked whether her friends and family were annoyed that they weren't invited - but Jennie shrugged this off, saying: "I thought, 'I haven't got any friends that would be annoyed with me!'
"Look - I love a good wedding, and I've been to lots of big weddings and I love it - but for myself, I'm more low-key and I didn't want to be the centre of attention.
"I didn't want to feel differently after we'd been married - but I didn't, it just felt so nice, and more complete."
Congratulations, Jennie and Chris!
