Faye Brookes is VERY happy about her National Television Award win - and so she should be!
The actress was elated on Lorraine this morning to talk about her Best Newcomer win for her performance as Kate Connor in Coronation Street.
But she mainly put it down to her boyfriend, Gareth Gates, for being so supportive of her. She said: "He was over the moon for me - I don't think he can believe it himself.
"We both work hard so there's an added pressure there. He's my best friend and makes me laugh."
She added that Gareth being in the spotlight did help things for their relationship: "He's my escape from it all, he gets it and knows what it's like."
The awards, which are determined by a public vote, were held on Wednesday. Faye said of her win: "It's good to get the seal of approval. I want my character to be liked - she's a complex character, and there's so much more to discover about Kate."
Faye's character Kate, is the sister of Aidan Connor, played by Shayne Ward, and the half-sister of Carla Connor, played by Alison King. Even though Faye has only been at the soap for a little over a year, her character has been at the centre of a pretty hard storyline - being the victim of a domestic violence storyline at the hands of her ex-fiancée, Caz Hammond who caught her kissing Sophie Webster.
And she teased that there may be more in store for those two: "I like the idea for the characters personally, if there was always something there between them, just to tease the audience, because I think she's got a soft spot for Sophie."
She also seemed to be very settled at Corrie, saying: "I've been at Corrie over a year. It's gone so quick. They did warn me, they said 'you'll blink and you'll have been here three years!'
"I'm just taking it all in my stride and soaking it all up - I don't want to miss a minute of it."
Boyfriend Gareth was so proud that he uploaded an impromptu video to Twitter of himself freestyle rapping about his girlfriend's win, which he has since taken down.
The intimate video was filmed whilst they were snuggled up in bed, with Faye cradling her trophy. Gareth rapped: "Yo, this is my lady Faye, and she is the winner of the NTA. She won best newcomer, walking down the carpet yo, she looked like a stunner."
How cute!
