We've had a look at all the UK celebrities who have broken lockdown rules since March 2019 because why not, tbh.
Coronavirus seems to be all anyone is talking about lately, and it’s no surprise. In January, Boris Johnson announced a new nationwide lockdown for the UK- with the message "stay at home" at the forefront.
We all want to get rid this virus ASAP and return to life as we knew it before and in order to conquer this virus once and for all, we have to follow the rules and stop the spread.
This is the UK’s third lockdown as cases have been skyrocketing, so hopefully if everyone follows the rules, we'll wave goodbye to this virus for good.
During these uncertain and scary times, a lot of people look to their fave celebrities and seek inspiration and advice for how they're handling lockdown.
But since the first lockdown began in 2020, we've seen some of the UK's biggest celebrities flouting the lockdown rules and it paints a rather odd impression... Especially to the more impressionable fans.
So we decided to take a look at some of the celebs who broke or flouted the rules...
Zara Holland
Remember Love Island 2016? Well, the latest celebrity to break lockdown rules is Islander Zara Holland after she went on holiday to Barbados.
After Zara and her boyfriend Elliot Love were told they needed to isolate after their arrival in the Caribbean, they tried to leave Barbados and fly home.
However they were arrested at the airport and while Zara tested negative for COVID-19, her boyfriend Elliot tested positive and remained in quarantine.
Over 5,000 people signed a petition to have the Love Island star and her boyfriend sent to jail for breaking the law.
The duo managed to escape jail time but had to pay a fine.
Rita Ora
Not once but TWICE Rita Ora breached Covid-19 lockdown rules.
The 30-year-old popstar flew out to Egypt for a private, corporate performance on the 21st November. When she returned to the UK the following day, she should have quarantined for 14 days but she didn't.
Instead she threw herself a 30th birthday party in London but described it as a "small gathering"... in a restaurant.
Rita later said she "deserved criticism" for these actions, and claimed that she would donate her fee from the concert to charity.
Molly-Mae Hague
Love Island's beloved Molly-Mae Hague also faced a lot of criticism last year following her lavish getaway to the Maldives with her boyfriend Tommy Fury.
After spending a few days in Dubai with Maura Higgins and Chris Taylor, the influencer and her boyfriend enjoyed a romantic getaway in the Maldives.
However she received criticism after her vlogs (in both countries) showed them not wearing their face masks in a taxi and while they enjoyed a seaplane ride from Male airport to their luxury hotel.
However Molly denied breaking any lockdown rules and told her followers, "In response to the messages I'm already getting about us being away throughout this time... Please understand that Tommy and I left the UK from Cheshire which was in Tier 2 at the time. We didn't break any rules coming away.
"If we knew these rules were going to be put in place then obviously we would have never left the UK. The minute we arrive home we will be following government guidelines."
The news came shortly after Molly left her home to travel down south to surprise-visit the winner from her Instagram giveaway. In the vlog, Molly knocks on the winner's front door, mask-free, and embraces her with a warm hug.
Jamie Laing
Back in April, Made in Chelsea star Jamie Laing and girlfriend Sophie Habboo packed their bags and ditched London during the first UK lockdown.
Despite the government making the lockdown rules clear and urging people not to go to their second homes "whether for isolation purposes or for holidays", the reality star said he didn't want to remain put in his one bedroom flat alone. So instead he escaped to the countryside where he spent lockdown life with his mum and sister.
Jaimie didn't refrain from posting some countryside pictures on his Instagram during the lockdown and he admitted that he had come to appreciate the world a bit more whilst being locked away.
In the Castaway podcast he explained, "Actually, stopping and relaxing and appreciating life which we’re all having to do right now is so much better because we’re appreciating so many more things… It’s a really grounding experience."
Zara McDermott and Sam Thompson
Love Island's Zara McDermott and Made in Chelsea's Sam Thompson appeared to break tier 4 rules when they snuck away to the Maldives for a quiet getaway for New Year's Eve.
On Sunday 27 December, the couple were spotted flying out of London airport, just a week after travel was banned in Tier 4 areas on 20 December 2020.
Zara then posted pictures on Instagram and marked her location as London. However it didn't go unnoticed and fans were quick to criticise her, especially after she share screenshots on her Instagram Story that said it was 11:14pm, despite it being 7pm in the UK.
She then deleted the post and uploaded another screenshot of a DM with the London, UK time instead...
Something seems rather fishy here, don't you think?
Get it? Fishy, because the couple are on a tropical island? Ah, never mind...
Chloe Ferry
Influencers have been receiving extensive backlash for escaping UK lockdown regulations by jetting off to sunny destinations, such as Dubai and the Maldives.
These influencers haven't censored themselves at all and have actually been flaunting their vibrant bikinis, cocktails and nights out on the 'gram.
Amongst these influencers is Geordie Shore's Chloe Ferry. The UK's third national lockdown didn't put any restraint on Chloe's plans of fleeing the country, as she jetted off for a sunny getaway.
Posting frequent Insta pics of her vacay with captions such as, "Always have the best days on the beach" and "Not coming home" really caused an uproar from her followers as many people took to Twitter to call the 25-year-old out for her actions.
One person fumed, "Chloe Ferry coming home from Dubai because she 'needs a break from her routine', I’m sure NHS doctors and carers feel the same way mate x".
Another tweeted, "The restrictions are 'stay tf at home' not go gallivanting around the world during a pandemic, deeming it 'work' when it isn’t. It’s irresponsible and disrespectful asf".
The TV reality star was also caught breaking quarantine rules back in October 2020 and as a consequence, faced a hefty fine of a whopping £10,000.
Chloe flew to Turkey on 3 October last year to undergo breast reduction surgery, and when she returned to the UK, she failed to isolate for the compulsory 14 day period, and instead it was reported she went to party...
Not cool.
Joshua Ritchie
Ex Love Island and Celebs Go Dating star Joshua Ritchie broke lockdown rules last year when he hosted a 80-person party.
The 26-year-old reality star reportedly visited his family home to celebrate his niece's fifth birthday, before allegedly visiting a friend, and then inviting 80 guests back to his house for a party.
Joshua posted videos and photos of himself and his pals, dancing and partying, to his Instagram, with captions such as, "Who's having it off tonight (party)."
Despite breaking lockdown rules to host an extravagant party, Joshua made no attempts to hide his wrongdoing when he responded to a fan on twitter who asked what he got up to over the bank holiday weekend.
The response: "Two words: HEAVY DOOOO"
It's also worth mentioning that Joshua Ritchie is among those influencers who have ditched lockdown and headed to Dubai.
Naturally, he received a lot of backlash but the reality star fiercely hit back and wrote, "I would just like to educate this bellend. Yes, I’m aware, yes, I’ve been living here for about two and a half months, yes, I had a corona test before I went and yes, I’ve been following the rules, so what the f--k has it got do with you?”
Ouch 😳.
And when the TV star was asked when he planned on travelling home, he answered, "Couldn’t tell you. How long is a piece of string? Dunno."
Josh also revealed he plans on making a trip to Bali and Ibiza later this year. Riiight.

Made in Chelsea most dramatic splits - slider
Spencer Matthews and Caggie Dunlop
The OG tragic split, even featuring an IRL (well, scripted reality) leaving at the airport scene. Spencer and Caggie weren't officially a couple, with Spencer dating model Funda Önal, but the chemistry between them was undeniable and for a long time Spenny thought of her as the love of his life. Eventually, feeling played by Spencer stringing her along while refusing to dump Funda (we don't blame her, tbh) Caggie left to pursue a "music career" in New York, and Spencer, realising the error of his ways, rushed to catch her at the airport to win her back. He missed her. Talk about dramatic.
Ollie Lock and Gabriella Ellis
Cast your minds back to the first series and you will remember that a long-locked Ollie Lock was in fact dating a woman - aspiring pop star Garbriella Ellis, no less. But the couple split because Ollie was confused about his sexuality, and he quickly went on his "first ever" date with a man, leaving Gabriella heartbroken. So heartbroken, in fact, that she wrote her next pop song, Fight, about him, and there were some bizarre scenes in series two when she cast an Ollie lookalike to play the role of the leading man (subtle, hun).
Hugo Taylor and Millie Mackintosh
We all know how this turned out IN THE END, but cast your minds back to series one and you'll remember the OG Chelsea power couple met a very messy end when Millie found out that Hugo (best mate of slimy Spencer Matthews) had cheated on her with HER best friend, the unassuming Rosie Fortescue. Cue a VERY dramatic speech at a party where Millie outed their betrayal in front of all their friends, making for possibly one of the best MiC scenes to this day.
Spencer Matthews and Louise Thompson
After Caggie, Spencer's next conquest (in fact there might have been a few in between, to be fair), was weepy Louise Thompson, who was regularly reduced to tears by his womanizing ways. For some reason she stayed with him through multiple infidelities (seriously, we don't get it?) but things eventually came to a head when Spence met Louise at a bridge by the Thames (a classic) and told her he couldn't respect her when she "allowed" him to cheat on her.
Binky Felstead and Alex Mytton
We were all rooting for Binky and new boy Alex Mytton when he showed up in series five, but it quickly became apparent he was one of the 'bois' by how well he got along with resident villains Spencer and Jamie Laing. They were a cute couple for a while, but Binky eventually split with Alex after learning he'd cheated on her on a night out with Spencer. She later found out the night in question had actually been an ORGY, which made things ten times worse. Poor Binks.
Sam Thompson and Tiffany Watson
Ah, young love's dream. Except, not really, because a freshly de-cherried (presumably) Sam Thompson simply could not keep it in his pants during his two year relationship with Tiffany Watson. The couple eventually split during tearful scenes in Croatia, with Tiffany quitting the show shortly after. However, after Sam returned in 2019 with his Love Island girlfriend Zara McDermott in tow there were some seriously tense scenes where Sam very much gave the impression he wasn't over his first love.
Louise Thompson and Alik Alfus
This one ruined us. Sure, New Yorker Alik was a bit of a bumbling idiot, and moving to the UK and asking Louise to marry him was A TAD overkill, but the scenes where Louise decided she couldn't go through with it and gave the ring back were peak heartbreak. There was later talk that their split had something to do with fellow American cast member Stephanie Pratt, but she hit back with a tweet saying, "Uhhh no she was shagging her trainer since March." She's now engaged (or is she?) to said trainer, Ryan Libbey.
Jamie Laing and Frankie Gaff
We hate to say it, but Chelsea OG Jamie Laing just doesn't seem like he deserves a girlfriend. Not that Frankie Gaff was our fave, but is there a single partner Jamie hasn't done the dirty on? His relationship with Frankie was particularly eye-roll, but Frankie gave as good as she got when she went after Jamie's boi Alex Mytton and allegedly hooked up with TOWIE's Dan Edgar. They eventually split after one too many tearful confrontations at the dinner table with friends, and Frankie quit shortly afterward.
Liv Bentley and Digby Edgley
After meeting on the set of one of 'photographer' Liv's nude shoots, it was love at first sight for these two and they managed a pretty normal relationship for a good few series. But things started getting rocky in series 18 with Digby increasingly frustrated by Liv's social life and Liv feeling stifled. At the end of the series after some major on-ing and an off-ing, Digby left for South Africa for work for three months, but then Liv went on Celebs Go Dating and the former couple shared some cut throat digs on Insta.
Maeva D'Ascanio and Miles Nazaire
Let's face it - the golden era of MiC ended when the last remaining connections to the OG cast faded from the show (excluding Jamie Laing, obv), and we've been less invested in their relationships since then. But a special mention goes to Maeva D'Ascanio and Miles Nazaire. As each others' first loves in their native France, Maeva followed Miles to London where she joined the MiC cast and after a full series of heartbreak, the couple agreed to move on. We're sure Miles didn't have his best mate James Taylor in mind for Maeva's next squeeze, though. Awks.
Sam Thompson and Zara McDermott
After meeting on the celeb circuit, Sam brought Love Islander Zara onto MiC with him (despite her being very much not from Chelsea) in 2019 as he returned from a break from filming. Cue VERY awkward exchanges with his ex, Tiffany, who also picked that series to return. In September 2020 allegations of Zara cheating on Sam during her stint on The X Factor came to light (oh how the tables have turned, hey Sam?) and their dramz split is set to play out on the upcoming series.

Danielle Armstrong
Another sucker for a party.
TOWIE's Danielle Armstrong reportedly enjoyed a 'boozy party' with pals, despite lockdown rules. Oh, and apparently there were no face masks.
Reports claim that Danielle could be seen with six of her friends, crowded around a single table filled with booze and food. Meanwhile a DJ, who stood in the corner of the room, provided the tunes for the small gathering as footage showed the group dancing and singing together.
Danielle was even seen up close and personal with her friends and there was no face mask or covering in sight... 🤦♂️.
