Katie Price has made no secret about wanting more children, and the mother-of-five appears to be taking a major step towards making it happen with boyfriend JJ Slater.
Last week, the couple were spotted soaking up the sun on holiday in Cyprus. And insiders tell Closer that Katie’s trip with MAFS UK star JJ, 32, wasn’t about topping up their tans, but rather was a ‘top secret baby-making mission’.
A source reveals, ‘Katie and JJ met with IVF clinic experts who have told her she does have a chance to have children – despite her lower-grade eggs and age. She has exhausted all IVF attempts and channels in the UK, and is hoping this is the start to expanding her family.’
And now Closer speaks to Katie’s ex Carl Woods – who she dated for four years until last Christmas, shortly before the former glamour model moved on with JJ – about the similarities between Katie’s current IVF journey and the one they went through together.
Throughout their on/off relationship, Katie, 46, and former car salesman Carl attempted to conceive using IVF multiple times, and were documenting the process for a TV series.
Carl reveals that the pair had even chosen a surrogate together, who suggested they went to Cyprus to give it a go. In fact, the 35-year-old says the current journey mimics his ‘parrot fashion’, just with ‘a different dude’.
‘I don’t think she cares who she has a baby with, as long as she gets a baby,’ he says. ‘In that situation, it’s not about who – it doesn’t matter. It could be me, could be a surrogate, could be JJ. As long as she gets a baby. To a degree, I’m sure she would treat any partner as a sperm donor, really. She’d be happy to raise the baby alone.’
While Carl and Katie were undergoing their IVF treatment, they had cameras filming the journey, which was shelved when the couple split. But insiders tell Closer that Channel 4 will shortly be airing the documentary, saying, ‘Channel 4 have decided to proceed with airing Katie’s IVF documentary. Katie’s split from Carl had created issues with the process of airing the new show, but Channel 4 have found a way to make it work.’
And Carl says, ‘There were cameras when we were going through IVF the second time, but that just became the norm. It didn’t throw me off. I have zero feelings about them airing it – I don’t know how they could finish it, because we split up. But I don’t care.’
Coming up to one year on from their break-up, Carl describes that part of his life as a ‘blur’. ‘I don’t feel anything,’ he says, of their split. ‘I don’t feel upset, mad, angry – nothing. It just is what it is.’
The TV personality has previously said that men have a ‘shelf-life’ for Katie, who lists Peter Andre, Alex Reid and Kieran Hayler among her ex-husbands.
Still, he insists that he wishes Katie and JJ ‘all the luck in the world’ with any IVF attempts, euphemistically adding that his ‘general advice’ for anybody trying IVF would be to ‘think of the future’. ‘When there’s a child involved, think of all possible scenarios in life,’ he says.
Earlier this year, Katie revealed in her memoir that she suffered a miscarriage while attempting IVF with Carl.
As a result, the I’m A Celebrity! star – who has undergone major cosmetic procedures this year, including her sixth facelift and her 17th boob job and has promised to get a bum lift soon – will likely use a surrogate this time around.
When she was with Carl, Katie spoke about her search for a surrogate, with reports at the time claiming she’d even enlisted a super-fan who had previously babysat her kids to carry her future child.
While Katie has always claimed that she would love to have up to three more children, her decision was likely spurred on by her ex-husband Peter, 51, who this year welcomed his third child with wife Emily MacDonagh.
The insider continues, ‘Katie and JJ met with IVF clinic experts, who have told her she does have a chance to have children, so she has found a surrogate.
‘She is so excited about embarking on her dreams to grow her family. Seeing Peter and Emily having another baby has made her determined to make a baby happen for her too – no matter what it costs.’
