The 28-year-old actress will be held under voluntary psychiatric hold in LA for 72 hours, according to US gossip site TMZ.

However, this could be extended to 14 if her parents make the decision to get a conservatorship over her.

It comes after a worrying week for the former child star. She took to Twitter, after announcing her engagement, to discuss all the cosmetic surgery she believes she needs.

She tweeted: "F*** I need a tremendous amount of facial surgery"

Later a video leaked showing her dancing bizarrely while shopping for clothes.

It was after another apparent Twitter meltdown last night that Amanda made the decision to enter rehab.

After reportedly starting a fire in her driveway last year, Amanda was detained by police officers – before later being hospitalised for a mental health evaluation.

At the time, a judge said she had 'a lack of capacity to give informed consent to medical care'.

Because of this, Amanda's parents were granted temporary conservatorship over her.

Following her release from care in December last year, it seemed Amanda was getting back to her old self when it was reported she was going back to school to study fashion designer.
