Alex Jones has revealed she hosted The One Show just hours after she suffered a miscarriage in 2017.
The presenter, 42, gave birth to her first son, Teddy, with husband Charlie Thomson, in January 2017. But Alex has now said she suffered a miscarriage that year.
In an interview with the Telegraph, the Welsh presenter explained that she had discovered she was pregnant while in New Zealand, but discovered the baby had “stopped developing” after she booked in for a scan when she returned to the UK.
Alex, who is currently seven months pregnant with her second child, explained: “The baby had stopped developing at about nine weeks. That was really hard. It hit us like a ton of bricks.”

The One Show host, who married husband Charlie in 2015, explained she was around 14 weeks pregnant at the time. She explained that she confided the news to her boss, who encouraged her to take time off from presenting duties, but she refused.
She explained, “'I said, 'What else am I going to do?' It's a horrible feeling because it is so empty. There's nothing to say. It's done."'
Six months after the heartache, Alex fell pregnant again, but admitted it took her a long time to “enjoy” the news and she couldn’t relax incase something went wrong again.

Alex has previously spoken out about the struggle she underwent to conceive for the second time, previously admitting: “I suppose I’m older now, but we took it for granted that it would be OK. But you don’t really know until you start trying how it’s going to go, do you?”
Last month, Alex shared a photo of herself in a hospital bed with a foetal heart rate monitor attached to her baby bump. The star explained to fans she had become concerned after the baby she is expecting had decreased movement and had sought medical help.
She wrote: “Hadn't felt much movement from the baby for a few days so lying here being monitored. If in doubt mammas ALWAYS check! So reassuring to hear the heartbeat.”
However, a little while later she reassured fans that everything was ok, writing: “All was fine at the hospital. His or hers little heartbeat was going like the clappers but good to check. Thanks for the messages."
