Too much colour on your face can leave you looking like a clown, but with the right tools and products you can embrace the summer trend for coloured eyeliner with confidence.

Rule number one when using a coloured eye pencil is to keep the rest of the look relatively low key.

Start with a good base (as always), but be conscious of not going overboard with the blusher or bronzer - just a subtle dusting will do.

Next, we’d advise doing your mascara and eyeliner (if you usually wear it) as normal, then add in the coloured liner in the outer half of the lid, flicking out slightly at the edge.

Team with a complimentary lip colour

Now, not to contradict what we’ve just said, but sometimes this look can really stand out when used with a complimentary colour on the lips - just be subtle with it.

We like the pairing of a green/blue liner and a slightly coral lip.

Try these together- especially great on people with dark eyes and hair, but equally could look good on blue and green eyes so long as you use plenty of mascara too.
