When it comes to transitional outerwear, a classic trench coat is always my go to. They're super comfortable, work well with plenty of existing wardrobe staples, and look effortlessly stylish, making them (in my opinion) the best autumnal wardrobe staple out there.
Whilst browsing for my next outerwear wardrobe staple, I came across plenty of trench coats from a range of high street stores. But there was one trench coat from high street hero New Look that quickly caught my eye - and I believe it's the best transitional coat that the brand has to offer.
New Look Trench Coat Review
New Look's Double-Breasted Cotton Trench Coat, £64.99, is a chic transitional wardrobe essential that, considering its high street price tag, I think looks like it could pass as high-end. Featuring a classic double breasted trench design made from 100% cotton, New Look's bang-on-trend autumn staple would pair well with plenty of capsule wardrobe pieces such as cardigans, jumpers and classic straight or wide leg jeans and trousers.
Before I first tried the coat on, I was cynical. While I absolutely adore a trench, I sometimes find that finding the perfect one should be considered an olympic sport - some are far too long and oversized, and others come up too short for my liking. But this trench was love at first wear - it's the perfect length to survive the cold snap of autumn (below the knee, to be exact), and isn't too oversized at all.
It features chic button down detailing, a detachable tie belt, and long, button tab cuffs, which I think makes the coat look incredibly elevated and chic. It comes in three colours, brown, grey and dark grey, and while I absolutely adore the brown, I'm half tempted to snap it up in a different colour, as all three would work perfectly for the transitional period.
