As a beauty writer, it probably won’t shock you to hear that I’m a big fan of K18 (and the team already love the K18 hair mask). So, when news landed at the end of last year that they were launching a dry shampoo, literal shivers went down my spine. Over the years, I’ve tried my fair share of dry shampoos, and while I’ve found a few I like, there’s always room for improvement. Cue the K18 Biomimetic Hairscience Air Wash Dry Shampoo.
When it comes to this product – and I’ll share my honest review further down – let me first present you with some key facts, and you can see how it stacks up against your current favourite dry shampoo. This has been very much designed to not only absorb sweat and oil at the roots, which it does with translucent microbeads, but it also eliminates odour for up to three days, replacing with a subtle fragrance. To achieve this, the product features the brand’s odorBIND complex, which uses smart-release biotechnology.
The dry shampoo also contains hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid, which is a powerhouse ingredient for ensuring that tresses aren't stripped of hydration and tame any unwanted frizz. And the cherry on top? It's earth-friendly and non-aerosol.

K18 dry shampoo: My honest thoughts
To really test K18's hair-renewing product, I skipped washing it the night before and the morning of. It can be tricky to tell how to use K18 dry shampoo, so I followed the instructions to apply it correctly and did a single spritz per section. I then waited a few minutes before brushing through my hair. I was impressed that there was no white cast or starchy build-up on my scalp or around my part, which is typically where the gunky mess tends to settle after application.

The fragrance is light and fresh, with a hint of floral sweetness. I was hesitant at first because it’s non-aerosol (one of the reasons it took me so long to try it), meaning the first few spritzes left my hair feeling damp. Though the initial dampness can be a bit off-putting, the good news is it dries surprisingly fast, quickly transforming into an almost invisible powder that’s easy to work with, giving you plenty of time to style your hair before it 'sets'.
The volume and lightweight feeling is unlike the results from any other product I've tried, and I've tried lots as a beauty writer. All in all, I’ll definitely be using this again.
