We are always across a new beauty launch - especially one that's super affordable and stocked on the high street. It goes without saying that Boots is one of our go-to places for beauty shopping. From luxury beauty to super affordable brands, we can be sure to pick up plenty of our beauty faves at Boots so when we heard about their latest skincare drop - we had to get our hands on it.

When shopping for skincare, I look for products designed to be specifically suitable for sensitive skin that's on the drier side. I'm looking for skincare designed to comfort, soothe and hydrate but I also want a routine that continues to leave my skin looking glowing and exfoliated. Whether or not you want a new hardworking serum or a super hydrating cleanser, we put the new DermaCare Ceramides range to the test:

What makes this skincare range different?

This range has been formulated with a 'triple ceramide complex' plus a range of multiple skin-loving ingredients depending on the product. This powerful complex combines ceramides, cholesterol and fatty acids to improve and care for your skin barrier. Joe Thorley-Mitchell, Director of Boots Brand says, "The Boots DermaCare brand was born in healthcare, created by pharmacists to support with symptoms of skin conditions. We’re proud to build on this heritage with a carefully curated collection of products that harness the restorative power of ceramides."

What are ceramides?

Taking skincare back to basics, Ceramides are one of those essential ingredients that will only do positive things to your skin. They are essential lipids that are naturally found in the skin to maintain a strong skin barrier. Having a strong skin barrier is key for protecting and keeping the skin moisturised - an essential for flawless, smooth-looking skin.

Ideal for a sensitive skin type, this lightweight, fragrance-free cleanser gently cleanses the skin but leaves you feeling noticeably more hydrated. The perfect second cleanser, this nourishing formula is enriched with both hyaluronic acid and vitamin E to avoid any sense of dryness after use and removes any traces of make-up that may be left behind from the day. Did we mention it's only £8?

Pros

  • Perfect for a morning and second cleanse
  • Skin feels nourished after use

Cons

  • Not ideal for make-up removal

I don't say this lightly, this is one of my new favourite serums. I am an absolute serum addict, especially hydrating ones. This one has impressed me the most. For me, a serum is a non-negotiable in my skincare routine and this super lightweight, plumping serum fits in perfectly. The results for me, were instant as I noticed a difference immediately that under my make-up, my skin looked more hydrated and awake. I often find during the day that my base make-up tends to get absorbed into my skin but I loved how nicely my make-up sat on the skin and looked fresh for longer.

Pros

  • Absorbs instantly into the skin
  • Sits perfectly under make-up

Cons

  • Glass bottle not ideal for travel

Although this serum is designed more for an oilier skin type with larger pores, I loved how it felt on the skin. Infused with niacinamide, this serum is one of those products you can't go wrong with if your skin is in need of some instant calm. Ideal for both a day or night serum, I love how light this product felt on the skin without feeling any worry that my other products would be disturbed.

If you're ever worried about an eye cream that pills or feels heavy on the eyes, worry less with the Conditioning Eye Balm. Created with the calming ingredients of probiotics and chamomile alongside the triple ceramide complex, this eye balm promises to nourish and plump even for those who suffer with a sensitive eye area.

Pros

  • Lightweight texture
  • Feels calming and soothing

Cons

  • Some with oily skin may find it too rich

A complete game-changer for dry skin - this cream instantly soothes and nourishes any sensitivity alongside leaving a slight glowing finish. Made with the combination of both shea butter and squalane, the soothing yet protective cream solves any feeling of dryness and sensitivity in a flash and continues to improve the skin's natural barrier.

Pros

  • Instantly soothes inflamed and sensitive skin
  • Improves skin barrier

Cons

  • SPF not included

This moisturising lotion is a summer essential. From the instant shot of hydration to the protection from the sun, this lotion is all you need throughout the summer months. If you're in the market for a sun protection cream that doesn't feel heavy or thick on the skin, this one is ideal. The added hyaluronic acid and aloe vera gets to work to soothe and draw additional moisture as your skin is protected from the sun.

Pros

  • Keeps the skin protected and hydrated
  • Gentle formula designed not to irritate

Cons

  • Only a factor of 30

If you're a lover of a refreshing facial mist but you're in need of one that instantly adds any lost moisture to your skin, this one is perfect. With many benefits including protecting the skin against pollutants, calming any inflammation and reintroducing any lost hydration. This mist can be applied before your skincare routine or throughout the day whenever you're in need of an instant refresh.

Pros

  • Great price point
  • Multipurpose use

Cons

  • Product might need replenishing more quickly

What did I think overall?

Firstly, for an affordable range, I was initially super impressed with the quality of the packaging. The range feels luxe and expensive and looks great sitting on your dressing table or in a bathroom cabinet. As someone looking to solve my dry and sensitive skin concerns, this range suited me down to the ground. Finding a skincare range that targets sensitive skin is high on my wish list and I'm so pleased with the results from each product I tried. It's also key to mention that a skincare range made with plenty of must-have ingredients alongside being priced so affordably can be difficult to find, but this one hits the brief. Regardless of age or skin type, this range is perfect for getting someone introduced into skincare without breaking the bank.
