Best moisturisers for dry skin

Yep, we know dry skin is the worst. Trust us, most of us have been through it before.

It can be a nightmare when you finally feel as though you've cracked your skincare routine and got it perfected down to a T. And then boom- those pesky flaky bits can appear out of nowhere, causing the skin to feel super tight (or even painful!) and beginning to peel.

Why do we get dry skin?

The answer is pretty simple actually: It's mostly due to hot or cold weather, low moisture in the air, or soaking your skin in water (yep, water can actually dry the face out, especially hot water).

It's also down to genetics; some people naturally have a dry skin type, so will need to find nourishing products to help soothe, hydrate and calm their complexion.

So what's the solution for dry, flaky skin?

Your solution is... moisturiser! It'll be your best friend in a crisis like flaky, tight skin.

But, which one do you go for? Well, hold off from clicking buy now on just any old moisturiser as you'll need to refine your searches just a tad...

Any old cream won't cut it.

The right moisturiser should feel like a silky blanket for the skin: giving it enough coverage to ensure comfort and protection. Most importantly, it should keep your skin healthy, dewy and hydrated.

The very best skincare products to combat 'maskne'

The best budget tinted moisturisers for glowing skin

Maskne sufferers, listen up, it turns out it could be your make-up to blame for breakouts.

No, we're not suggesting you ditch your make-up altogether, but have you thought about lightening the load?

Dr Rasha Rakhshani of the Dr Rasha Clinic recommends swapping your foundation for a tinted moisturiser. You'll get a slightly lighter coverage, however, if your skin's in a better state for it then what's to lose?

Plus, Dr Rasha told us, "Foundation will just rub off into your mask and spread bacteria."

Yuck - no thank you.

Think we'll be shopping for a tinted moisturiser next.
