I seem to always end up with men who cheat on me and want to make sure it doesn’t happen again. How can I tell if a man is the cheating type?

**Shirlee, by email **

You can’t ever guarantee someone will or won’t cheat, but there are some things to be wary of. If a prospective boyfriend works in a job where lots of colleagues play around, he’s more likely to do it himself because it’s accepted behaviour.

Or if he comes from a family with a history of affairs, he may have learnt that’s what people do in relationships. People in highly stressed careers can be drawn to the excitement of an affair, and any job that requires a lot of travel ups the risk.

But you should never go into a relationship assuming the worst – everyone deserves the benefit of the doubt, whatever their background.
