Don't like being in love

I’ve broken up with my partner because I can’t stand being in love. It brings out the worst in me. I get paranoid, jealous and terrified that he’ll leave me. What can I do?

Being in love produces feelings of insecurity because to be in love, we have to make ourselves vulnerable. What makes this bearable is trust – which you seem to be missing. What’s made you mistrust your partner? Has an ex cheated or did a parent leave you feeling abandoned? Knowing where it comes from can help, or you might need to work things through with a therapist.
