My new man can’t orgasm during intercourse. He told me he usually masturbates using his bed sheets as using his hand doesn’t do it for him either. How can I help him get over this so we can climax together?

Marie, by email

Some men do masturbate by rubbing themselves against the bed sheets. The problem is that the feeling of rubbing against sheets is different from the feeling of being inside a vagina (unlike a hand, which feels similar). If he only masturbates this way, he’s hardwired his brain to only orgasm this way.

Ask him not to masturbate and get him to become aroused by rubbing himself on your body. Do this a few times and keep him on his masturbation ban. Once he orgasms that way, his brain will associate “orgasm” with “partner.” A few weeks on, once he’s on the verge of climax, let him penetrate you to finish off. It might take a month or so to retrain him, but it can be done.
