Both of my previous long-term relationships ended when my partners cheated on me, so I can fully empathise with TOWIE star Ferne McCann after her man Charlie Sims was pictured kissing a mystery blonde in Ibiza recently, and later on an apparent date with the same girl in London.

Feeling like you’re the last to know is one of the most humiliating experiences, especially as it concerns someone you trusted. Instead of feeling like a fool, accept that we often judge others through our own behaviour.

If you wouldn’t cheat, why would your guy? Recognise that the blame is with them and don’t feel sad – breathe a sigh of relief that no more of your precious time will be wasted on a man who isn’t worth it.

How to move on from a cheat…

Don’t blame yourself. He didn’t cheat because you’re not pretty or sexy enough – it’s because he’s a selfish person.

Don’t let this experience cloud your future relationships. Love is a risky business and sometimes we get hurt but, in the end, if we find The One, it’s worth all the heartache.

Speak to family and friends and get all the support you need.
Close relationships can ease the burden of emotional trauma.
